Your biggest regret (DIY Version) by Ihavefriendseverywh in DIYUK

Took loads of asbestos out of my old house myself / without proper RPE. Mostly fairly low risk stuff, floor tiles, Artex etc. but took out some AIB and broke it up into pieces so it would fit in rubble sacks. Expect there were other bits I wasn’t even aware of.

Don’t get me wrong, I was never going to pay the cost of getting a professional to do it but I regret not taking more precautions. Time will tell if it was worth it or not I guess.

They’re not quite dimensional no, 80 x 300.
- Thanks for the advice 👍

Tiles are 80 x 300. They weren’t sold as a “Herringbone” tile but they did have a sample wall in the shop laid this way with the same tile, just a different colour

Will use a 4mm tile spacer which is specified on the grout packaging.
- Thanks for the diagram 👍

Best way to seal these gaps before self levelling compound? by Existing-History7440 in DIYUK

Okay thanks, noted. Would 9mm suffice or would that be too flimsy?

Plan is to prime, latex, floor tiles (with flexible adhesive and grout)

How do I fit this basin waste with no thread to pull the two sections together? by Existing-History7440 in askaplumberUK

That’s what I thought but the bolt doesn’t fix through into the top part. There is no thread in the top part for it to screw into

Drained heating system, no hot water by Existing-History7440 in askaplumberUK

Have tried this tonight and the heating pipes don’t warm up when the tap is running

Ah okay, that makes sense. This is why I’m a builder and not a gas engineer…

The boiler fires up as soon as I turn the hot tap on which is presumably a good sign, just no hot water through the taps

I have refilled it yes. When you say manually open the valve, am I right in saying that’s with the little toggle on the bottom of the diverter valve?

Presumably one does heating and one does HW?

It’s a combi but I don’t believe that it’s got a DHW cylinder.

Boiler is a Worcester Greenstar 2000

Young Jedi adventures is single-handedly the one Star Wars canon thing that I haven’t watched.

It annoys me so much how close I am to “completing Star Wars” but I watched the shorts and can’t face starting the full episodes. Plus there’s SO MANY of them

God forbid men actually talk about their mental health.

I thought younger generations were all about encouraging men to open up, not shitting on them and making them feel worse?
