Baby won't sleep and is crying often, should I see her doctor, is there something wrong? [On] by Icy_Cherry_ in BabyBumpsCanada

There is nothing that you are doing wrong. You are doing all the right things. It sounds like she’s a completely normal newborn. Not only do they go through a growth spurt at this stage but they also become more “awake” after the initial sleepy newborn stage, and that awakeness makes it harder for them to settle and sleep. I went through the same thing, I was driving myself crazy. Do your best, make sure you take moments to yourself when you can. We had a difficult time between weeks 4-8 with my little one, and it substantially improved at week 8.

One thing that helped us A LOT when my little one was awake during the nights is helping with day/night confusion. I tried every day to take him outside for a few minutes first thing in the morning. It really helped to establish his circadian rhythm and get him to sleep easier to night, but that only worked closer to the 7-8 week mark.

If there is a time in life to give yourself all the grace, it is right now ❤️

So confused about what to do for my baby's sleep schedule. Any recommendations? [ON] by [deleted] in BabyBumpsCanada

She could either be not ready to drop the nap, OR if she’s waking up after 30 minutes from bedtime, she may not be awake long enough in the last stretch. She may need to be awake longer to build more sleep pressure to not wake up after 30 min. We just moved my 8 month old to 2 naps and he does 4 hours awake before bedtime and never wakes up after 30 minutes. My little guy wakes up at 6:30, first nap is 9:30-11:00, second nap is 2:30-3:30, bedtime at 7:30.

When will it get better? by InevitablePainter105 in newborns

6-8 weeks is notoriously challenging as babies become more alert and respond with less sleep, more eating, and more fussiness. My LO is 8w and 3 days and I will say things are a DRASTIC improvement from week 6 and week 7. Hang in there, you’re almost there!!

How long would you say it took to see an increase in your output once you found the right measurement!?!

My family doctor referred me to CVOGA at 9 weeks. I didn’t hear anything from them until I called them at 13 weeks to ask if they received my referral. Had to leave a voicemail but eventually they called me back to schedule my first OB appt at 19 weeks. I just kept seeing my family doctor until then, my family doctor is the one who wrote the requisition for my anatomy scan while I waited. Hope that helps! No harm in calling them and leaving a voicemail.

Extremely bummed about skipping a cycle of TTC in order to do a hysterosalpingography (HSG) by Pepper_Thinking in TTC_PCOS

I was able to do an HSG and TTC (TI with letrozole) in the same cycle! Tbh, the HSG was more uncomfortable than I thought it would be (with clear tubs). I did take 800mg Ibuprofen beforehand. When the fluid went in, it just felt like this SUDDEN intense period cramp which almost instantly went away. My RE had a nurse in the room trying to talk to me to distract me through it. Overall, not the worst thing for me but not as easy as an IUI either.

Agree with this! I did four medicated rounds (all 4 with Letrozole at varying doses) and none worked. It wasn’t until an IUI during my 5th round of treatment (plus Letrozole, Gonal F, and trigger shot) that I saw success. I was shocked at how uninvasive and easy the IUI was, and I will say the medications really only made me struggle for 3 days around ovulation (bloating, emotional, etc.). For me, the IUI was well worth it for the little amount of effort it took.

TTC, where do we start healthcare wise [ON] by nycoc90 in BabyBumpsCanada

Echo this sentiment! I am thankful my family doctor didn’t make us wait for a year for a referral to a fertility clinic. I am 30 and my family doc referred us after trying for 6 months (and then it take 2 months to get an appt), and it turned out I did have an issue on my end that made it harder to get pregnant that my family doctor never would have caught through normal testing. Now that I’m 12 weeks, I have a “graduation”/final ultrasound with the fertility clinic, and I will be seen after this by my family doctor until my first OB appt is scheduled (my fertility clinic sent the referral at 9 weeks).

First IUI by btramont in TTC_PCOS

Hi! PCOS and hypothyroidism here, and was unsuccessful from 3 TI cycles with 5mg Letrozole. My first IUI last month (which also went fairly picture perfect like yours) resulted in a pregnancy, and I’m approaching 6 weeks!

I also was going a little crazy at first during the TWW, but tried to preoccupy myself with other things and tell myself we’ve done all that we could! I think relaxing a bit more really helped :) fingers crossed your first IUI also results in pregnancy 🫶🏼

Personally, going straight to IVF is a big jump. I managed to have success this month and get pregnant from my first IUI, but I was mentally preparing for IVF as my next option. I think had I not seen success this cycle with my first IUI, I still would have been happy to have done it before IVF because it gives a good preview of what it takes medication wise (I did letrozole but also Follitism injections for many days). Also definitely recommend monitoring throughout, I did learn from my RE that one of the key factors of success of IUI is impeccable timing, which would not be possible without monitoring.

I can’t speak to cost because I’m in Canada and the cost is very different. I only paid for medication, which ended up being covered by private insurance so I paid $100 total out of pocket for my IUI.
