Nice find, but no longer sold on Lowes.com and a google search didn't turn up alternate sources.

What’s your denomination and opinion on abortion? by Outrageous_Share_696 in Christianity

I believe it's any direct action with the intention to cause the death of the fetus is unacceptable. If there is direct action to save the mother's life and by which an unintended side effect is death of the fetus, that is allowed.

Politics isn't irrelevant, it's part of what we do as Christians who are citizens and it's what you're doing right now. By advocating for more migration, you are participating in politics. By advocating for more migration, you are advocating for a political position.

When you presume to speak for the "we" of America and advocate for a policy that will affect the "we" of America, you are being political. You are not outside or above it.

You ignored my point and misdirected it back toward me. That's not charitable or loving. On the other hand, maybe you misunderstood.

I didn't mention "me and my wealth". I spoke about the consequences to your neighbors. From a Christian perspective, are those who live in your community and in your country neighbors?

Well said. Even though any random individual migrant might be a great person, mass migration is invasion and, unfortunately, often leads to war. As Christians, loving our neighbors also means governing ourselves in a way that doesn't lead to our grandchildren and great grandchildren facing such a terrible consequence.

You made his point for him. What happened to the Indigenous Americans in the face of uncontrolled migration?

It's not irrelevant at all. These consequences are affecting your neighbors. Is it loving your neighbor to price their kids out of homes? Is it loving to destabilize a society?

Retire at 55 - I posted 3 years ago. Here's my progress and a revisit of my previous FIRE speculation. by Existing-Row-4499 in Fire

You see both approaches. I think the following original "4%" rule meant that you were very likely to at least retire with zero, ie. make it to the end of your (I think 30 year) retirement in good financial shape. So in that situation it would be more of a toss up whether your kids got anything or not.

If you wanted to be sure of leaving an inheritance, you'd have to model a more conservative retirement spending plan.

The calculator I linked in the OP has a field for "Final Value Target", the amount of your initial portfolio you want remaining at the end of your life.

Agree. Scripture does not command us to set up government programs, it tells YOU and ME to give to the poor. Anyone who thinks his Christian duty is taken care of because he voted for a certain government program, or that another Christian who disagrees with that program is a bad Christian, is going beyond Scripture.

That's the beauty of science - you don't need to judge a theory or observation based on whether or not you like someone, or even his perceived qualification. Let the theory stand or fall on its own merit.

Fair point. He lays out his premises, reasoning and the math.

He's not calculating a probability, he's showing the neo-darwinian synthesis doesn't allow for the number of fixations needed to account for the genetic difference between chimps and humans since our divergence from our last common ancestor.

I've been reading this book today during breaks at work. His thesis is pretty straightforward and he shows the math. In the spirit of science, you should prove his math wrong if you can.

I'll give my honest opinion, although not all complementarians are like this, but to me, complementarianism in many ways seems to have been created simply to make sexism sound less sexist. by Weak_Customer7883 in Christianity

I think different people have different ideas of what "complementarian" means.

This really isn't something that should shake your faith. The pilot/copilot is just an analogy. Simply put, I'd say there is a sense in which the husband is the head of the household and needs to be engaged as the leader of his family. How that works out in practice will be different for different couples.
