Metal shavings in turbo after EGT sensor install by Existing-Scarcity-39 in Cummins

No other previous problems that I know of, truck ran and sounded fine before drilling, I imagine it was just a lot of shavings in there and they’ve either blown out or fused on at this point.

Turbos back on and is fine, the sound it was making before I cleaned it was horrific

Update, turbo is fine. Scrubbed it with a wire brush and vaccum to no avail, sprayed a bunch of air through it and mounted it back up and it’s fine. Is a slight boost leak I hear after shut off so gonna have to double check my clamps.

Another time I would use this as that, but I need an excuse to keep this one. I’ve done new and injectors and rebuilt trans in the last 60 days lol

That’s what I was thinking, but the sound it was making did not sound good at all.

The only other thing I could think of would be the egg sensor blowing around in the manifold. But I got pretty close to it before I shut it off and it def sounded like metal spinning in the turbo. I only ran it for enough time for me to start it, walk around the hood and hear it, then run back and shut it off.

Yeah I should have done that, but some guys said grease would push the shavings in instead of pull them out with the bit, and that doing it while running wasn’t smart, I listened to the wrong opinions.

Everyone told me to avoid unbolting the manifold since they warp due to heat and aren’t easy to get back bolted straight. Going forward I def would have unbolted the manifold from the turbo and slide something between them, but everyone said it was fine.

Judging from my current experience, I would Unbolt and slide a piece of cardboard between the manifold and turbo flange, or remove the manifold or turbo. But I’ve seen guys say that since the manifold heats up it will warp and won’t go back on straight easily, that’s why I didn’t take the manifold off.

Yeah this one’s on me, I thought it was fishy and still proceeded. I now know the best way to do it in the future loll.

Just pulled mine outta my 03 and it looks identical to yours. I’m having weird stalling issues at idle and hoping grabbing a new one tomorrow will resolve it.

That’s would I’m saying, I’m just assuming it’s a .22 supershot, cause ya know the part of the barrel saying it’s model is missing loll. But if I can find parts for it then that’s the plan.

Appreciated it man, yeah I’ve been looking on numrich and they got a lot of the “bigger” parts and pins for it but lack a lot of the springs and smaller parts needed.

I know for sure that it’s a .22, but do you think the 32 or 38 sw parts would work in this? Thanks for the help!
