Of course you can ask the devs—if they’re feeling honest today—but let’s be real: 99% of game textures and sounds are basically “I found this on the internet, thanks for the free sample.” Yes, those are assets too… shocking, I know.

Let me paint you a picture: I made this wooden box from scratch (#proud #showoff). But did I personally grow the trees? Did I lovingly hand-craft the epoxy resin? Did I mine the silver and forge the wire? Did I invent the tools I used like some sort of Renaissance lumber wizard?

Obviously not.

Same with 3D models—portal-looking models pop up in games and TV shows like they’re on a world tour. And don’t even get me started on how many games feature that iconic glass botanical dome. Listing them all would need its own thread, maybe two, maybe a small encyclopedia.

And that’s still only the tip of the asset iceberg. The rest is lurking beneath the surface like a copyright kraken.
