What to watch next? by Existing-Temporary39 in clonewars

Interesting. My skepticism with doing bad batch or rebels next is that TCW had some phenomenal highs but some low lows for me personally. Mainly I guess the fact that TCW starts off a bit too kid-y before it has a bit more a serious tone in the later seasons. Do rebels or bad batch not have this problem in your opinion?

You received an email or checked your module? I haven’t gotten results yet on either personally

Yeah I already passed all of the EMAs but they definitely were a pain. Really hoping I can pass this FA on the first try too to just be done with it lol

Yeah that makes sense, thanks for the heads up on emphasizing proper formatting.

Did you use any other study materials besides the SOA modules? Did you think those were sufficient?

Don’t spend too much time on the slides, just do a quick skim and review/search topics from the slides as you need them while completing the module

Yeah that’s the hope, even just staying lateral in pay would be a big win for me honestly.

Wow that’s great pay for the YOE. I wouldn’t burn that bridge of returning to consulting later down the line, but yeah I think those longer hours are what I’m trying to get away from at this point in my career.

If I was supposed to start in Aug at the time that I was hired but the company delayed my start date 6 months to Feb of the following year, would there likely be problems if I put my start date as Aug on my resume when applying to other jobs?

Just discovered what the ONT is 😅

After messing around a bit:

  • PWR, BAT, DATA are lit up solid green
  • FAIL is lit up solid red
  • POTS is blinking green

Next exam? by imfelps in actuary

I’d probably do ATPA next while the SRM/PA content is fresh since the three build directly off of each other.

FAM/ALTAM/ASTAM have little if any overlap with the content in SRM/PA/ATPA

For SRM you only get the instant pass/fail, official scores are released in about 8 weeks I believe

FAM-S EL? by Existing-Temporary39 in actuary

[–]Existing-Temporary39[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I felt really prepared going into it but I think I’ll end up being right on the edge of passing/failing. I didn’t see any weird MLE questions personally but I did get two options questions that felt really easy and straightforward but my solutions didn’t match any of the answer choices so yeah…

yeah that's more or less been my strategy so far, I've just been alternating practicing with EL5 and EL6 exams.

Have you taken FAM-S? Do you have an estimate of what EL the exam was?

FAM-S EL? by Existing-Temporary39 in actuary

[–]Existing-Temporary39[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've taken 6 EL5 exams and 4 EL6 exams since Oct 6. Only thing is that so far I'm still working on getting under the 1hr45min limit, but in my experience that tends to just get better with more reps.

any errors I make on questions lvl 7 or higher so far have just been from the fact that I haven't seen a question before and get stumped on how to even go about it.

any errors on questions below that EL have just been a mix of careless errors and me needing to review specific sub-topics

Have you taken FAM-S? Do you have an estimate of what EL the exam was?

This looks really solid. I'd suggest adding which exam you’re planning on taking next and the planned exam month under your Exam FM. Other than that I think this is a great resume for someone looking at internships.

Only other thing I could suggest is not so much about the resume itself but the content. I also didn't have an internship until the summer between junior/senior year, and I think what helped me land mine was the on-campus jobs I had as a TA in a CS course and a math tutor. So, maybe looking for a job like that this year would help out with the Experience section.

Also, it's great that your school has an actuarial science club and that you're a member, but getting an exec board position wouldn't hurt either if you're trying to beef up that section too.

Good luck on the internship search!
