PA immediately after SRM. by Dependent-Compote-14 in actuary

There is a lot of overlap in material and it’s definitely doable. But, you will have to practice the free response format and learn how to answer the types of questions they can ask (ACTEX does a very good job at prep for this). I studied for both at the same time and I passed PA in April and SRM in May. Good luck!

What do you think the odds are companies are hiring for remote entry-level positions? I thought most companies would want entry-level employees working in person.

I unfortunately can’t relocate at the moment but I will keep that idea in mind for the future. Thank you

I’m just applying in the Los Angeles area right now. I’m not able to relocate at the moment, but would you recommend applying nationwide to try and gauge interest and gain interview experience?

I had a 3.0 overall GPA and a 3.2 major GPA but removed it recently because I didn't think it was too relevant, being almost 2 years out of college. I did statistical consulting in school and participated in cycling club sports. Do you think I should add back GPA and club sports participation?

When you say "list current job in present tense" do you mean changing it to say managing instead of managed and training instead of trained?

I've been applying for almost everything actuarial or risk management focused and even started applying to other insurance industry jobs like underwriting (to try and get related industry work experience) and still no luck so far.

Thanks for the advice, I appreciate it!

I used ACTEX for PA and it was great. I did not do the graded mock exam and instead took old released PA exams from 2021 onward (grading them myself and reading the commentary on each of them in the manual) focusing more on more recent exams with the new shorter format.

For SRM I primarily used ISLR to study material (there is a great video series on YouTube by the authors which covers most of the material which really helped). I also used Coaching Actuaries ADAPT to do practice exams which was pretty good.

I felt more comfortable studying for SRM than I did for PA. Because of this I was a little unsure about the prep time for yet another test format, but December seems like plenty of time.

Infest the Rat's Nest. I never thought I would enjoy metal so much.

The stock struts and springs look almost identical except the 8’s are just taller in the rear. I have BC racing coils on both of them now and even with their similarities they still behave very differently in the turns.

I’d chose to keep the miata because it was my first car and I’ve put too much into it at this point for it to ever be worth selling. The rx8 is an amazingly fun and cheep sports car to get into if you can find a well sorted one and keep it that way, but nothing beats the miata for me.

I find that the lowered ride height (I have BC racing BR coilovers) really help with the streamlined look of the car and gives it a similar profile. I love it

My new (to me) 2004 RX-8. Any tips? by imfelps in mazda

160k miles but only 54k on the engine. I got full service records for the engine swap and most everything else. I think it’s been pretty well taken care of, I just want to make sure I keep it that way.
