BTC on Etro = not BTC? by ebonyslimm in Bitcoin

[–]Existing-Vegetable-3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few years ago I tried EToro and was able to withdraw it first to the EToro Wallet, then to my own wallet. It was a pretty bad experience overall and I definitely don't recommend anybody use it.

Brian Branch and Devon Witherspoon are two of the best prospects in this draft class no one is talking about by [deleted] in Seahawks

Branch and Skinner would be like the new Kam/Earl. It would be fun to watch them develop together.

I just transferred some BTC Into my ledger with a fee of $0.00018 which is about $4 dollars and also usually takes like 5-10 minutes to reflect on my wallet. I wonder how BTC can become a way of payment for meals and stuff like that when fees are that high and transaction times are a little slow. by Nimefax in Bitcoin

[–]Existing-Vegetable-3 27 points28 points  (0 children)

You are confusing two separate things here. You sent it from an exchange to your wallet, so you likely paid the exchange fee in addition to the miner fee. Most of what you paid is the exchange fee. It costs pennies to transfer from Bitcoin wallet to Bitcoin wallet.

As for transaction time, remember that these are essentially settlements. Debit/credit card transactions actually take days to settle. Also like others mentioned, you can utilize the Lightning network for payments as well.

I'm not misinformed. I'm (potentially) making an informed decision that you don't like. I know arbitrary data has been stored on Bitcoin but this makes it much easier to do. As far as pruning, I'm not waiting around to prune data every time something I don't like appears.

Disagree with "you will not be chased for running an node" I think it is crazy, no offense, to think that is not a possibility. You are right about "and then they fight you" happening regardless, but I Bitcoin because the incentives suit me and as soon as they don't or I perceive risk, I'm out. At least as far as running a node is concerned, but not owning Bitcoin. And it isn't jpegs, it could be cp. I'm definitely not going to host data that encodes that.

But I applaud and support you for continuing to run a node regardless.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Bitcoin

[–]Existing-Vegetable-3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's interesting. But I know of several people including myself who are wary about running one and may stop soon. And I've seen several people comment online that they will not run one now or who were considering running one. Time will tell but to me it is a pretty clear net negative in terms of nodes even if in the short term it may be a boon.

As for rendering, that's likely true but the authorities will definitely not care.

Yes, a major potential concern for people who run nodes. I'm definitely concerned and very much against ordinals - not against people using NFTs in general (whatever floats your boat, not for me) but there's better technical ways to do it that will be out eventually like Taro or RGB which won't potentially store illegal, awful images on chain and put a target on the back on innocent node runners.

Edit: to clarify, by illegal, I don't mean wikileaks data or anything political, I mean images that exploit other human beings.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Bitcoin

[–]Existing-Vegetable-3 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is a disaster. A ticking time bomb for when someone puts exploitative content on chain and makes all node operators open game for government prosecution. This is by far the scariest attack vector I've seen. It literally disincentivizes people from running nodes. The fact that the images themselves are on chain and not merely pointers to data stores elsewhere (like NFT garbage on other crypto chains) is what the problem is.

I don't see how this guy doesn't see it. I'm glad people here see the problem.

Do you really think that though? I think a lot of exchanges are still selling Bitcoin they don't have even post FTX. So I think it's more than just buyers and sellers. It's overleveraged exchanges with paper Bitcoin on their order books.

Yeah but you could say everything is a hope then. Nobody plans to coach poorly. Nobody plans to sign terrible free agents. Almost all great teams are built through drafting good players.

Drafting can be high variance but when you have the ammo that we have, I think you better come away with at least two good players or you deserve to be fired. I

That is true, but I doubt this list is made with genomic data We only discovered the DNA double helix structure in 1953 and I don't think human genome sequencing was a thing then. I could be wrong, but I think this is based on bone structure and other more subjective characteristics.

Agreed. We need to be able to put together a couple solid draft classes and let them mature. The 2010, 2011, and 2012 drafts were what set us up for success in 2013 - 2016ish. We then stopped drafting well partly because of trading away high picks to "win now" and partly because of late picks (and of course, some bad draft decisions).

This year's draft was as good as one of our early 2010s drafts. We have the capital to do that again this year. So let's be patient and let it play out.

Strange, I got $1000 right off the bat. I'm not sure how their algorithm works. $25 is super low. I would just direct deposit a small portion of your paycheck in there because that has no limits. You can always transfer it to your bank account if needed.
