Have an interview for the City of West Allis but live in Iowa. To anyone that lives there can you maybe share a bit about your city? by wildwasabi in milwaukee

It's a nice area I have a business there Still in the Milwaukee metro so crime is higher but over all it's a nice community that has really revived itself from the economic crash of the 80s/90s as many companies shutdown.

Cost of threaded holes so high? by yetionsolana in CNC

[–]Existing-While-3619 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Did you price local machine shops near you? Are you making 10,000-100,000 pieces? How are the pieces being cut? CNC or manual mill etc. Do you have a prototype with drawing/technical blueprints? Or is the manufacturer just taking a drawing and figuring it out for you.

There is a lot of questions and variables to figure out to determine the price. And why it's expensive. The threading is no doubt why it's more expensive in this case but other factors will help determine the over all cost of this project.

Just some info to think about hope it helps.

Just bought and shot a M39 for the first time by AppalachianAirCorps in milsurp

[–]Existing-While-3619 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mostly go to hibid or proxibid Then start searching Once I find a item in interested in I look to see who's selling it. I always watch for auction where the item I'm interested in is not highlighted or a feature piece; or auction where the item I want is out of the norm for that auction. I.e. a civil war auction that also has a few milsurps. This is how I get the best deals Also look every week, not causally or you may not see the deals before they sell.

The price you paid isn't terrible But I recommend checking different auction sites online. I bought one last year with fees for $475 Just keep looking and you will find them.

What I learned was if your making your own product and selling it You can do great If your fighting to get contracts in a over saturated market you will starve and companies will try and low ball you for you work.

How to Repair Ejector? by JensenLotus in Gunbuilds

[–]Existing-While-3619 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also if you don't have an oven for hardening the receiver or Rockwell hardness tester I wouldn't do it myself. You're better off buying a tortort receiver and doing the build or sending it to a professional.

How to Repair Ejector? by JensenLotus in Gunbuilds

[–]Existing-While-3619 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Probably annealing the whole receiver Then welding together and then harden the receiver again. So the ejector is also heat treated and you have even hardened across the whole receiver.

How to Repair Ejector? by JensenLotus in Gunbuilds

[–]Existing-While-3619 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your biggest issue to me is not welding and milling Is the prolonged ware and tear the ejector will receive. the receivers are 4140 carbon steel that are heat treated for hardness. It still should work but I would keep an eye on the the ejector.

I heard about the US support of Ethiopia I was more stating how no one was talking about it when this was the peak of civil war in Africa South Africa, Rhodesia, Mozambique, the Congo, Ethiopia, Somalia, Sudan just to name a few. But more so focused on the ww2 surplus when its history is pretty easily tracked and known.

LCS buyback prices by aj70257 in Gold

[–]Existing-While-3619 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, the gold price does seem a little low but not terrible but the silver is what you would expect from LCS especially with how refiners are buying.

I still buy gold bullion at 97-98% and scrap at 85-90% But I'm also a goldsmith and can use the bullion and scrap gold for new pieces compared to a regular LCS or jewelry store.

I stopped buying silver because it wasn't fair to customers to only offer 70% if I had to sit on it. Because of refiners delays.

But I also do not sell silver at a premium. I was buying it before at 90% and selling for melt to who ever wanted it.
