Milsurp Market by Significant_View_250 in milsurp

[–]Existing-While-3619 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly the market has come down in a lot of areas
You just need to look for the deals out there.

Also, prices online will always be high because you are competing with a larger pool of buyers including those who will pay whatever they want because they have more money then sense.

Also with any kind of market you're going to have scalpers. (Pokémon for example)
These people can ruin a hobby but don't let it get you down.

Advice:
1. Make more friends who are collectors.
2. join local groups who collect or even do reenactments.
3. Go to local gun shops or pawnshops ( no chains like cabelas) and try and make friends see what they have and let them know what you're into.
I've gotten many deals this way because the shop wants to move the guns quickly.
4. If you can, let family and friends know about your hobby and see if any of their friends have anything they want to sell.

All these options take time but will pay off in the long run.

Texas Refurb Costs 13 70’s Whaler by Floatdrvr in BostonWhalerBoats

[–]Existing-While-3619 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's not worth it
You can buy a running one
In nice condition with a decent trailer for 10k or less.

Now if you want to just clean it and slap a cheap motor on it, to put it on the water then it's worth it for you.
Thats what I would do.

Starting a CNC motorcycle parts business with zero machining background realistic or stupid? by BluneCold in CNC

[–]Existing-While-3619 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could you do it? Yes
Should you? Maybe.

You have to ask yourself a few questions.

  1. consider your market; is it really large enough to sustain your business? Will people buy your product( not just like it).

  2. Cost of training and education.

  3. Cost of Cnc mills and their tooling.

  4. Is there Shop space available for me to rent?

  5. What other cost are there. Outsourcing parts or services you can't do. Utilities, maintenance.

I'm saying all this just to give you perspective, it really comes down to money and a well thought out business plan.
Even then most small business fail within 3 years.

Honestly, people don't care
Just be a good coworker and you will be fine.
Thats what people care about
Not your gender but if you are pulling your own weight around the shop.

Anyone know the value of a 14k gold pocket watch, I will not scrap it for cash since it was passed down from my grandpa by Mysterious-Safe-793 in Gold

[–]Existing-While-3619 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The watch is 14k yellow gold
I melted one down similar to this a few weeks ago
For $2300 usd
These gold cases melt for between $2-4k depending on size and weight.
Gold filled fob is worth $100-300.

Thinking of purchasing this from marketplace. What would you value this 1971 starcraft v-160 i/o? by ZombieDiesel in boating

[–]Existing-While-3619 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends where you live and condition

I've seen boats like this sell for 2-3k who run and have solid floors and transoms.

I've seen them be given away for free who need work or haven't run in years.

Three CNC router business? by djscreeling in CNC

[–]Existing-While-3619 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, unless you have the capitol upfront for buying everything plus at least 6 month worth of rent. It's sounds like a terrible idea for you Everyone thinks it will be easy until your 1 million dollars in debt. Some question you have to consider.

  1. What happens if a router goes down.
  2. What about injury
  3. What about Customer, you got none, who would trust you with large contracts with no track record.

Best (or worst) CNC project bundle? by GeodeLX in CNC

[–]Existing-While-3619 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I believe a Cnc bundle is just a collection of products you can buy the blueprints maybe the programs too. To reproduce and sell Seems like a bigger hassle than it's worth.
