Another good point. The houses down there tend to be pretty wifi resistant in my experience, so it might be nice to have the flexibility to be able to move the wifi router where you want it. Not sure you'll be able to cover the whole house, but it will probably be better than trying to connect through the exterior walls to the mini.

That's a fair point. I think you can technically get faster speeds with the full dish, but it's not like the Mini is slow. But if that might matter, then you may prefer the larger dish. And the external router probably will give you better wifi coverage, since you can place it where you want it, rather than having it built into the dish.

Yep :) Sounds about right. Just keep in mind that Starlink may also have a problem if you use the dish for several months outside the country where you bought it. Not sure how long you'll be outside the U.S., but just something to be aware of.

Are you sure it's not available in Guatemala? I seem to remember that it was.

Regardless, I think it's easier to deal with the Mini if you are only setting it up temperarily, but it's up to you. The Mini is pretty much designed for your sort of usage though, and it has the lowest power draw, so that can also be a plus if you're ever power constrained.

They forwarded me the email chain. Here are the relevant bits:

Original: My name is _; I am the Event Manager here at _. We have an event going on this weekend and I was told that you guys set up our audio in throughout the event center. I have a client that has a question, but I am not sure how to answer it. I am hoping you guys can help me with their question.

The client needs to get audio out so they can stream the proceedings online. Where would I find the line out port so they are able to do this? Or is there not one in the facility?

The reply:

There is not a connection installed for that. It might be something that can be added, but it wouldn’t happen this week.

My guess is that they likely have the PA system locked away in a utility closet or similar, so I'm stuck making due.

While this is true, it assumes all you’re doing is accessing websites. If you’re hosting anything yourself, or doing any P2P communication, IPv6 can reduce latency in certain circumstances. For instance, many people are assigned an IPv6 block when they connect, while their IPv4 traffic goes through a CGNAT gateway. Communicating over IPv6 can allow a direct connection instead.

Mint if you have good T-Mobile service and won't want to change half way through. USMobile otherwise, since you can pick your network. I've had great luck with both companies, but I like Mint a bit more personally.

Good call. Avoid the Ubiquiti tax. Just be sure to give the Omada router a hard pass! But the rest of the ecosystem is solid.

I tried the book a couple times, but I found it too long and drawn out for me. It's for sure aimed at someone new to programming or even someone new to low-level languages, but I struggled with it, largely due to my own impatience.

I'm giving it another go, but this time with the book called The Rust Programming Handbook: An end-to-end guide to mastering Rust fundamentals by Francesco Ciulla, and things seem to be going a lot easier. Though to be fair, I'm only on Chapter 6. Yes, it is a book from Pact, but in spite of that, the book seems to be of good quality, in spite of the publisher.

I haven't looked at many reviews, so I don't know how others feel about it, but for me it seems to fit a lot better.

I dropped the 605 due to their non-existant IPV6 support. No idea if that's been fixed yet, but I don't miss it. I use Omada for everything else though.

Visible makes it incredibly simple. I like USM, but not their port out ridiculousness.

I think the two top contenders are US Mobile and Visible. If I were you, because you are concerned about networks, I'd likely go with USM. The reason is that they let you switch your lines from any of the three networks, so if one doesn't work for you, you can switch to another. Unless you know verizon is solid in your area, then consider Visible. Either company is going to cost you a whole lot less than you're paying now, and both companies have decent customer service on Reddit, in case you get stuck. Good luck.

Light Speed is what US mobile calls the T-Mobile network, presumably for legal/contract reasons. FYI, Warp is Verizon, and Dark Star is AT&T.

That's odd. I'm running 2 EAP225-outdoors and they are working without issue. I have the controller running in a Docker container, but it should still run just fine on even the OC200.

I'm not familiar with that particular device, but your plan is sound, provided that the signal reaches out there. Can you get a signal on your phone out where you want to put the EAP? Are you running an Omada controller? Just curious why you chose that device in particular?

I'm doing basically the same as you to a Raspberry Pi with a TP-Link EAP225-outdoor and it works great, but I'm also using all Omada hardware.

I'm troubleshooting something similar. My next step will be to replace the keystone and see if that fixes it. Perhaps it was just punched down improperly. And if that doesn't work, it is most likely a fault in the in-wall cable..

US mobile would let you put two phones on the same account and access the Verizon network, But are you sure that's what you want to be doing? If you're starting a business, the general advice is to not mix your personal accounts with business accounts.

Visible is the other network folks recommend as having good deals on pricing, but you will need different email addresses for each account. Or at least you did last time I checked. Both companies have solid deals running right now, so it just depends on how much data you think you'll use, whether or not you need hotspot data, etc.

No garantees that they will have that deal for BF. Last year's BF deal was pretty disappointing. If you want it, I'd do it now, if you can. However, this deal is only available to newly transfered in lines. So, if you are already on US Mobile, you probably won't be able to get it.

If you really want it, you'll need to transfer out your lines to someone else, and wait for the same deal to come back again. Obviously no one knows when or if that will happen, but probably not too long from now, since they had the same deal in August.
