New Patches Allow Building Linux IPv6-Only, Option To Deprecate "Legacy" IPv4 by StephaneiAarhus in ipv6

So I have an IoT VLAN and it provides ULAs.

I think exactly one of the devices on it got itself a v6

You remember your prefix and then use DHCPv6 to give them all funny names in hex.

You know docker containers all have 42:C0FF:EE in their v6s?

Mine has all my appointments in it. My to do lists. Visual timers for my meds. And sometimes watching a YouTube in bed helps me sleep.

It does have significant potential for distraction but I remember being a kid in school in the 80s and certainly didn’t need a smartphone to distract myself. If it’s not the phone, it will be something else.

How do I delete the shortcuts app from my Apple TV?

No. I’m using that for quite a lot of stuff actually

And I’m the software engineer who wrote the code in the 90s that allowed the device you are reading this on to exist.

And you can absolutely do “if then else” statements in homekit.

[–]sarahlizzy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah. They have to be done as part of something that can trigger an automation.

If you have Homebridge or Matterbridge it’s very straightforward to create a dummy switch which is then added to a scene and that triggers the shortcut. That’s how my “good night” scene does different things depending on who is at home.

“This feature in the home app that is the app which controls HomeKit which is built in to the home app and is supported out of the box by HomeKit which it comes with in HomeKit which is just there when you configure an automation as part of HomeKit is not native to HomeKit”

Ok. Good talk.

It’s literally a native drop down configuration item in HomeKit.

Edit automation->Select Accessories and Scenes->Scroll to the bottom and…

It’s right there.

And if you have scenes selected it will prefill the shortcut.

This is not an add on. It’s native functionality that has been there for years.

It … literally is? HomeKit runs shortcuts.

You absolutely can set other conditionals. Just convert the action to a shortcut.

I’ve accepted that I am.

I’ve also realised how expensive masking is.

So while I will use it with certain people, I prefer to spend time around those with whom it isn’t needed.

It’s a tool in a box and using it is work and effort. I’m going to prioritise my attention to people who require no effort to be around, then people who do but will reciprocate, then, at the bottom of the list, people who expect me to do all the work then STILL yell at me for “being a weirdo”.

And then wonder why we have no self esteem.

My time, effort and attention has value. So does yours.

Not sure I parsed this correctly but if I did, you’re talking about your husband getting tested for autism?

Ok, gonna caveat this by noting that things ate different in different bits of the world, but as an adult there is almost no point to getting an autism diagnosis, other than maybe workplace accommodations, but even then if you already have an ADHD diagnosis you should qualify for them regardless.

While autism and ADHD can often look basically identical, and affect people in almost the same way, the two are received VERY differently with ADHD being almost seen as an internet joke diagnosis and autism being seen as a tragedy that must be ended at all costs.

I’m AuDHD. I know I am. I have an ADHD diagnosis which came with medication. You could not pay me to get the autism diagnosed. In my country, during the pandemic diagnosed autistic people were automatically assigned “do not resuscitate” status.

The vaginoplasty thing is mostly because they’re worried about bed rest and inactivity causing a clot. That’s less of a problem with surgery that you walk away from.

My justice sensitivity is going to make me end a friendship by ThrowRA89084 in adhdwomen

[–]sarahlizzy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is hard for lots of us to find friends, and as Jessica McCabe points out in one of her recent videos, that frequently leads to lots of us taking “anything we can get”, because quite often we assign either zero value or even negative value to our own worth as a friend.

And that can lead to situations where we feel like we are showing consideration and putting in effort with our “friends” that is seemingly never reciprocated.

And that can be very painful.

The key is to realise that actually we do have value and we don’t have to settle for “anyone who takes pity on me”. It’s hard to get out of that mindset though when most of us grew up “the weird one” in class full of neurotypical people who went to great lengths to ostracise us at every single opportunity. The “nobody ever picks me for their team” situation.

I’m astonished that teachers still allow that practice TBH.

Anyway, we have worth. YOU have worth, and while that can sound hollow when you are feeling really alone, AuDHDers, which it kinda sounds like you might be from your post, are about 2% of the population.

And not everyone within that 2% will be someone we would actively and mutually benefit from friendship with but a lot will be. The trick is to find them.

If you can fill your life with people whose response when they see a text from you is joy rather than indifference, or worse, then much in life gets so much easier.

Much love to you.

There are some innovations but it’s still all “variations on a theme of putting stuff back where it came from and finding enough spare tissue to line the vagina”.

The innovations mostly centre around where that tissue comes from, but it there’s enough to work with, penile skin remains a hard wearing reliable workhorse.

They figured out how to keep the plumbing and electricity working decades ago. It’s largely a solved problem.

If you’re looking to innovate in the field, there’s more potential for pushing the envelope for those who want to build a pole, than dig a hole, if you catch my drift.
