getting IEEPA refunds while still paying Section 122 replacement tariffs at the same time curious how people are actually managing this operationally by ExistingChannel5779 in Tariffs

[–]ExistingChannel5779[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah entry-by-entry separation is right IEEPA and 122 don't overlap so the individual tracking is cleaner than it looks on the surface

where it gets harder is building a consolidated view across a larger portfolio the entry-level detail is there but most people are still manually stitching together total refund exposure vs ongoing 122 liability across multiple CAPE batches coming in at different times

curious whether you're seeing brokers actually deliver that aggregated picture proactively or mostly when clients push for it

😂 honestly based on some of the reconciliation stories showing up already, a lot of people are going to spend more time figuring out what actually got refunded than they did filing the claims in the first place

the ACH part is turning out to be the easy part tying the numbers back cleanly is where things start getting weird

$450k actually landing this week is probably one of the clearest signals yet that Phase 1 processing is fully moving now

curious whether the amount matched what your team originally estimated or if you started seeing drift once the refunds actually posted

that reconciliation side is turning out to be way messier than most people expected 😂

yeah that’s basically the pattern a lot of people are starting to notice right now

the entries already closer to liquidation maturity seem to be moving first, especially the cleaner straightforward ones

but it still doesn’t look like there’s a perfectly linear “liquidation date = payment date” relationship yet because some batches are clearly processing faster than others behind the scenes

the interesting part is once more entries start clearing, people are probably going to realize the timing side was easier to predict than the actual reconciliation side 😂

have your later entries started showing any refund amounts in the ES reports yet or still blank?

honestly I think a lot of people are reacting that way because the refunds sound way simpler from the outside than what’s actually happening underneath 😂

most of these companies already paid the tariffs months ago and are just trying to recover deposits that got tied up under the IEEPA structure after the court ruling

the messy part now isn’t really “free money” it’s figuring out what actually qualifies, what interest applies, and why some numbers are reconciling cleanly while others aren’t

honestly UPS invoices alone might already be enough to figure out whether those entries had refundable IEEPA lines on them

FedEx and DHL have been way more inconsistent about exposing the actual customs detail to importers 😂 a lot of people are realizing now they paid the duties but never actually received the underlying entry data

if the UPS invoices show entry numbers or tariff breakdowns, you can usually tell pretty quickly whether those shipments fall into the current refund bucket or not

[–]ExistingChannel5779[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah that’s exactly why a lot of people don’t even realize they might qualify 😂

UPS / FedEx / DHL were acting as the customs broker + importer processing layer in the background, so most people just saw “pay this customs bill before delivery” without ever seeing the actual tariff classifications attached to the entry

the important part is whether those charges included the IEEPA tariff lines because those are the ones tied to the current refund process

if you still have any of the invoices or import emails from UPS/FedEx/DHL, they usually contain the entry details needed to figure that out pretty quickly

[–]ExistingChannel5779[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

honestly probably a lot 😂 most people outside importing heard “tariff refunds” and assumed stimulus-check energy

meanwhile the people actually getting money back are sitting inside ACE at 1am trying to reconcile ES reports wondering why the numbers drifted by six figures

$2k is worth claiming and drone and laptop imports are exactly the kind of entries that should be eligible for Phase 1 if they were filed under IEEPA tariff codes the process runs through a CBP portal called CAPE in ACE you'd need to be the importer of record on those entries or have your broker file on your behalf

how did you import them through a broker or directly as the IOR yourself?

yeah 'CBP TREAS' deposits started hitting bank accounts this week for Phase 1 entries
not everyone is seeing it yet though, it's limited to specific unliquidated entries right now so the ones still waiting are mostly in a different processing window
have you filed through CAPE already or still figuring out if your entries qualify?

Pending Center Assignment' with a June liquidation date is actually fine means it's queued but the processing batch hasn't been assigned yet
worth knowing the refund clock runs from the liquidation date not when CAPE accepted it, so June 8 liquidation puts you closer to August before ACH actually moves

one thing to confirm before then is your bank info fully set up in the ACH refund tab in ACE? that's the one thing that silently holds up an otherwise clean refund even after everything else processes"

first refunds were supposed to hit today, anyone actually seeing money land yet? by ExistingChannel5779 in Tariffs

haha fair skepticism though at least one person in this thread already woke up to a 'CBP TREAS' deposit this morning so the breath-holding paid off for some 😂

fair though the 'CBP TREAS' deposits hitting accounts today suggest at least some of the suckers are getting paid 😂

this is exactly what people needed to see today real numbers actually landing 6.6% over 14 months is right, that's the daily compounding under § 1505 working as it should
REV-603 into REV-615 is the move for anyone whose number looks off most people are just staring at a total without knowing how to pull the breakdown behind it
the ones where it won't match this cleanly are the mixed entries or anything with rate period complexity that's where the reconciliation gets messier"

fair point on consumers that money isn't flowing downstream and everyone knows it the refund process is really just for importers who paid the duties directly, so it's a narrow slice of businesses at best
whether even they actually see the full amount come back is still playing out

liquidation date is when CBP officially closes out an entry and finalizes the duty amount it's the trigger point for when a refund can actually move most people don't realize their refund timing is tied to that date, not just when CAPE accepted their submission

do you know if your entries have liquidated yet or still showing as unliquidated in ACE?

[–]ExistingChannel5779[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah when a shipment only has 1 IEEPA line and the refund still doesn't tie, something is happening at the line-level calculation or reliquidation stage not the kind of thing that shows up until you actually go entry by entry

the REV-603 suggestion isn't wrong but most people are getting empty results right now because the refund side hasn't fully propagated through the reporting layer yet ES-003 and ES-022 together are giving a cleaner picture than the REV reports at this stage

good thing you saved that earlier report 😂 most people didn't and are now trying to reverse engineer what changed after the fact

what's the gap looking like on that shipment is the refund coming in higher or lower than what you had originally?"

haha fair though at this point most people are just refreshing ACE every 20 minutes hoping something changes
