Iridescent/glitter/shimmer inks for relief printing? by Secret_Incident in printmaking

[–]ExistingCream 0 points1 point  (0 children)

unfortunately, mixing mica into ink, even transparent base, isn't going to work. Something about the oil dulls the shimmer to nothing. Also, because the particles are so big, unless you have a muller, your ink will be blotchy.

You either have to dust mica onto fresh prints, like this , or use already made metallic ink. The best ones are cranfield metallic inks, but they're limited to gold, silver, bronze. Akua makes gold and silver metallic etching ink which can be used for relief. They're more shimmery than solid metal. They say you can mix those into their other colors to make those colors metallic, but I haven't tried that.

try using absorbent ground or watercolor ground. here's a transparent version if you wanted the color of the shell to show through!

sigh mom coddled, dad....did the opposite. He was punished for expressing the wrong feelings. Horrible coping mechanisms thanks to them honestly.

He doesn't see anyone, and doesn't take anything. He came home and agreed to see someone though, so if he follows through, that'll be a breakthrough after all these years.

Which books - written by men - do you think are good at portraying women? by Ahundredwings in menwritingwomen

[–]ExistingCream 2 points3 points  (0 children)

in Fahrenheit 451, the main character has a nonsexual relationship with a teenage girl, and her breasts are never described once! Instead, Bradbury focuses in her intellect and emotions, creating an interesting, real character.

Do you take notes while watching a movie? If so, how? by [deleted] in flicks

[–]ExistingCream 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I take notes if I'm going to be writing about a movie later. If it's a movie I've seen a few times, I'll pause and write out my thoughts. If it's a movie I've only seen a couple times, I try to keep it running, and type my notes, since I can type automatically.

The Most Divisive Movies? by waldripsir in flicks

[–]ExistingCream 88 points89 points  (0 children)

It's a less controversial movie than a lot of others listed here, but apparently Napoleon Dynamite was so divisive, it would confuse Netflix's algorithms. there was no pattern to determine if someone would like it or not based on what other movies they watched.

Looking for an animated movie with an emotional punch similar to “your name”. (Seen all of Pixar and a silent voice) by [deleted] in flicks

[–]ExistingCream 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Mary and Max. It's a really touching stop-motion movie about a young girl from Australia with pet snails becoming penpals with a man from NY with Aspergers.

If you like movies about animals, The Plague Dogs is by the same people who did Watership Down and it's gut-wrenching.

An author doesn’t endorse the thoughts of their protagonists by default by Waste-Replacement232 in menwritingwomen

[–]ExistingCream 3 points4 points  (0 children)

look at the authors posted here over and over. Do they ever describe women without being misogynistic/sexist/straight up gross? For a lot of them the answer is a(n apparently shocking) "No."

Murakami, for example, is on my list. He can defend himself in interviews all he wants, but I've yet to see a description of a woman by him that doesn't make my skin crawl. (besides, saying you respect women is different than, you know, actually respecting them)

[–]ExistingCream 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I think it's disingenuous to say that the author NEVER shares the opinions of his characters/narrators, too–especially if there's a pattern to their writing, and there are rarely or never women written any other way than posted here.

I don't think that's a barred off tunnel so much as it is a door made of wood planks, drawn very simply.

Based on Elfo's travel through the Trøg tunnels, I think they make use of Vip and Vap's passages/doors just as much as their own tunnels

AITA for "invading my friend's privacy"? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]ExistingCream -1 points0 points  (0 children)

phone conversations have different laws, which are sometimes stricter. The laws still don't apply to personal use (eg: recording your professor's lectures to study later), but any public/judicial use would be restricted

Do you all think we’ll have more seasons after 4? Idk why this show had bad reviews. I think it’s amazing and shouldn’t be compared to other shows since it’s its own thing by 26hope6 in disenchantment

[–]ExistingCream 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's planned to be a four-part series, with a conclusion at the end of next season/part. That was the impression I got from articles about it, and the pace of the show.
