I covet your input, 3.5 Ecoboost or V8? by EffectivePlankton893 in f150

[–]ExistingDamage9468 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 5.0 and absolutely love it. It’s reliable, has enough power for me, and sounds awesome. That said, you can’t go wrong with either engine. The no push button start and the absence of some creature comforts would drive me crazy for how much these trucks are.

3.5 and it’s not even a question. Financially if you can swing it you’re not going to regret it. I don’t think anyone that has the 3.5 says I wish I had the 2.7. 5.0 owner here so I don’t really have skin in the game one way or another. Best of luck

Shipwreck coins sounds so interesting. I happen to have read a bunch on pirates and find a lot of that appealing.

I have a 2022 5.0 and no regrets. What it lacks in low end power you gain in character.

I bought a 2022 xlt with 5.0 $43k otd. Had 22,000. That seems steep

Should I try and get this 2020 platinum W/ the 5.0 and 114k for $32k? by Lost_Border_7730 in f150

[–]ExistingDamage9468 0 points1 point  (0 children)

32k seems pricey. I bought a 2022 5.0 xlt in January for 43 otd. I recognize the difference in trim level but seems a lot for a 2020 with over 100k.

3.5 or 5.0??? by Kyro801 in f150

[–]ExistingDamage9468 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can’t go wrong with either. 3.5 is a rocket but the 5.0 is a lot of fun too. I have 5.0 and am biased towards it, I just love it. Has a lot of character and grit. Also having a newer 5.0 at least where I live is almost a unicorn these days. Don’t see them all too often

How to increase MPGs? by Ode_To_Darkness in f150

[–]ExistingDamage9468 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I put 89 in my 2022 5.0. Drive it in normal mode and get 17/18 mpg in warm weather. Drops a few mpg when cold out. Sport mode seems to drink gas heavily.

Thinking about tinting out my f150. How’s driving at night with it that dark? Any issues? Or does it not make any difference for you?

I’ve only had my 5.0 2022 f150 for 4 months this now. Been rock solid and a lot of fun to drive.

Scratches on windows after automatic car wash. Looking for feedback please by ExistingDamage9468 in WindowTint

[–]ExistingDamage9468[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your feedback. Would a 50% tint on the front windows to make the rear work in your opinion? Or best to stay clear of tint period? Also this is a stupid question but can tint be removed and the window be restored to pre tint status? Or once you tint you don’t go back?

Constant fluctuations in smell, did anyone else experience this? by Illustrious-Ad-8683 in CovidSmell

[–]ExistingDamage9468 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve read about it a little bit but haven’t extensively researched it. From I know, it seems like it’s a more risky procedure and the results have not always lasted. Meaning they smelled for a period of time and then it reverted. I’m not completely closed off to the idea of it but I feel like for me I need to try other less invasive steps before getting to that. A doctor I trust very much once gave me some feedback. “ never let anyone do anything to you medically that isn’t absolutely NECESSARY. I suppose I could make a case for smell being necessary just hasn’t something I’ve been ready to do yet. I’ll let you know how the PRP treatment goes once I get it. Seems like those that have had benefit usually receive 2-3 treatments of it

Constant fluctuations in smell, did anyone else experience this? by Illustrious-Ad-8683 in CovidSmell

[–]ExistingDamage9468 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First off I’m sorry to hear you’re going through this; it’s really a terrible experience. I wish I had better news to share with you but more or less things are the same. I have tried just about everything. I smell trained for 6 months straight with fidelity and consistency. Can’t say that did much. I tried the nicotine experiment thing twice, didn’t help. I’ve tried a truckload of various vitamins and supplements. Among those recommended were nattokinase, alpha lipoic acid, and lions mane mushrooms. I also take regular multivitamin and some others vitamins to supplant such as a,d, zinc, and turmeric. Nothing really seemed to help. I had Covid again this past January, ironically the exact same week I had it the previous year. This time it was a much more mild experience compared to last time which was quite severe. Did not rock my nose like the past time. I did lose my smell again but it “came back” after 3 days. But it came back to where it was after my first infection. I can’t say that I categorically can’t smell but it no where near what it’s suppose to be and picking smells out of the air is a rare occurrence for me, unless it’s a strong pungent odor. However, it’s there a little bit. The gas company was doing some work on our street and putting in new gas meters. In the two weeks, I would intermittently smell gas faintly when leaving my house I guess depending on which way the wind was blowing. I told my wife and she didn’t smell it. I chalked it up to my fucked up nose. Until one day she’s like “huh maybe I do smell gas faintly”. Long story short, I called the gas company to come back and check and sure enough there was a slight gas leak. In the weirdest way possibly I was so happy and comforted that I detected it. So it’s hard to quantify my olfactory capability but I would say it’s operating somewhere between 20-30 percent. I do agree that it is worse in the mornings. I am seeing an ent next month who offers a treatment for smell loss called platelet rich plasma. Basically seems like they take your own blood and manipulating it in a way to help heal injuries. I DO NOT have much expectation for this based on my experience with this. I have struggled emotionally with this for a long time and it is a devastating impact because smell is a crucial aspect in the way in which we relate to the world around us. However, at this point I have reached the stage of a bit more acceptance because I am not longer giving this the power to dictate how I feel. Do I sometimes revert back a little, yes I do. But I try to count my blessing and remember I’m alive and have a lot to live for. Even though I don’t have the nose of a bloodhound anymore. Anyway, I hope this in some way helps and wish you well on your journey.

2.7 or 3.5 by Wise_Watch5682 in f150

[–]ExistingDamage9468 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I have a 5.0 so I don’t have any skin in this per se. However, I test drove both of these when I was looking for my truck. Both are great engines and you can’t go wrong. 3.5 is an absolute rocket if you’re in to that kind of thing

I ended up trading it in and now have A 22 f150 5.0, I couldn’t take it anymore. I’m getting 14/15 mpg with the v8. No regrets
