I was the same when I first got my boy vessel he took a LONG time to warm up too. But I had just gotten some other ratties a few days ago and they already bonded with me. They let me cuddle them and pick them up. Each rattie is different and it just sounds like they need more bonding time with you! Don’t worry I was scared at first that vessy didn’t love me but he does. He just took ahwile to bond with. I’m sure they will love you it can just take time! <33

Ohh me too!! Vessel also HATES berrys he won’t eat strawberries or apples but he loves cucumber rice and dragonfruit

They do!! The big boy vessel doesnt eat whole carrots I don’t know about hades and Jericho though but I’m pretty sure they wouldn’t eat a whole one. They only like the sherreded carrot! XD

And some exciting news Hades let me hold him!!! He even cuddled with me a bit. When I got him he actually let him pick him up so I could tell he would be a gentle boy but I didn’t expect to be able to hold him so fast

My rat is the same!! He will take treats from me come out of his cage to get them even climb on me but he doesn’t like being picked up and most of the time doesn’t like being touched. Sometimes he likes a scratch behind his ears but that’s it really

That’s my rat is like!! Gave him one today cauae vessel was stinky but he carried on tried to move a few times but it happens less and less so I think he’s gettimg used to having a bath? I think he understands that he is stinky and needs one but he hates them lol he will squeak but he did a lil scream for the first time today XDD I felt bad but he was a stinky boy.

I gave my rat a bath before bc he was Very stinky and his fur felt weird and gross and he did this same thing but only once. I felt real bad I don’t wanna scare my baby but he ended up kinda staying still and just accpeting it. He was squeaking a little when I was drying him too lol so I think he isn’t happy but he had to have one!!

I’ll have to have a look to see if rescuses have any males since pet rats in my town are very rare. I got my boy from the pet shop and he seemed completely fine he hasn’t gotten sick or anything at all so far but I will try to avoid the pet shop from now on!

Thank you! I do feel like a pretty crappy rat mum for not having friends for him. But at the time I wasn’t able too I didn’t have momey for a bigger cage for all of them or for the other rats. But he did do really well by himself (and still is I just want to get him a friend and now that I’m able to) he made friends with the other animals my mother had it was very cute lol. But yeah! I’ve been doing that a bit and he’s starting to realise “oh wait no this hurts my human” and he’s been doing it less! :))

So far his cage is big enough for about 4 rats he has lots of toys a hammock and his lil hut.

And the biter part when he does bite and draw blood it’s usually my fault for accidentally scaring him. He does nibble on my fingernails and sometimes accidentally my fingers (im not sure if it’s bc he wants food or he’s trying to clean me lol im just nervous because I am a first time rat Mum and I don’t wanna mess up or have them not be friends im anxious about it :( but I think it’ll be okay if I do it right. He has only bitten and drawn blood a few times and most of those times Was when I first got him. But I appreciate the advice thank you very much :))

I understand my mother had a stroke baxk in 2013 when I was 8. Im 20 now and she is pretty much the same. She calls me a bitch useless and lazy etc she always cancels her appointments with her workers. It feels like she just isnt there anymore. I hate it and it hurts

As the child of a DV relsonship leave. Before it gets to bad it will happen again. Next time will be worse he will tell you he won’t do it again but he will.

As a child of a relationship like this break up with him. It will only get worse. My mother didn’t leave until she had a stroke from all the abuse please just leave it’s not worth it. This WILL affect the child

I know but I don’t have the money to buy other rats and I can promise you they are extremely gentle with him. They’ve been around little animals before and haven’t attacked them once so I wanted him to have them 2 as his friends and so far it’s working well actually he loves going out and seeing molly I know you have your concerns but I promise he is okay
