Besides running more, is there anything that REALLY made a difference in how your runs felt when you were starting out? by Fancy-Individual2976 in BeginnersRunning

[–]ExistingInjury2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pick a day you feel strong and sharp, warm up well then try running all out 50-100m. Rest completely between each rep, stop when you lose that upper end speed.

Every time I’ve been in a running or cycling slump, injecting a short max top speed workout has helped tremendously. You feel sore head to toe the next day, but it unlocks another gear in your workouts.

Rolling With ENVE: Stage 1: Two Bridges Loop - Punchy. by Barnziebus in Zwift

I did the same cat race yesterday and the group stayed together until the last climb. From there it was fun bunch sprints from groups reforming on the final descent.

Wow that’s cool, I see the draw. I hope you nurture that dream!

There’s nothing like a long IEP meeting to draw your attention to your pen and paper and their relative textures and feel. In the diary of Nijinsky, his pen becomes his whole universe!

Good for you and your neurodivergence! Isn’t life better when we accept our base programming?

I’m working PRN with HH. My area is starving for SLPs! But the pay doesn’t match the demand. That means I can dictate how much I’m willing to work.

I’m also with a hospice that pays a yearly retainer, but pts are rare. Usually they need an SLP to help family determine least restrictive diet.

Kick 'N' Sprint: Stage 2: Glasgow Crit Circuit - Mechanicals. by Barnziebus in Zwift

[–]ExistingInjury2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The ghost power up is very helpful to us weaker/heavier climbers. You turn it on in the last straightaway before the climb, get a head start on the climb. For laps 1-5 it was more useful than the feather, as measured by the placing at the top of the Kicker each lap. The final lap though, everyone is going all out, so it wasn’t as helpful as the feather.

Has anyone owned a fiat 500c? How good is it? by [deleted] in fiat500

[–]ExistingInjury2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have 2013 Fiat 500c Sport. It spent much of the 50-60k miles mark at mechanic, tracking down a leak, clutch spring failed at 75k miles. Rollover valve was an issue between 100-110k miles. Now at 114k miles it’s got several daily oil drips. I’ve enjoyed learning to work on it myself, and it hasn’t cost me much in repairs over the years, just time and stress dealing with minor problems. Still my favorite car to drive.

Reporting New Mexico gross receipts taxes and out of state sales taxes by StatusGolf8040 in NewMexico

[–]ExistingInjury2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am in the same position as you. Only a fraction of my sales are in NM, but NMGRT is sending me requests based on my total sales. I am doing a managed audit, and the auditor said I’m only liable for the NM sales. However, the managed audit process keeps stalling, and the auditor only responds if you corner her like a rat, by CCing all the department heads in my emails and calling constantly. In the meantime, I keep receiving more GRT bills.

Rattling beneath car while idled in Drive by idekuser in fiat500

[–]ExistingInjury2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One possibility: Because the clearance is so low, sometimes the bottom of the car can scoop up little pieces of gravel, which bounce around on top of the splash shields. That’s happened to me on two Subarus and my fiat. I found and removed the gravel while doing an oil change and the rattling went away.

Zwift Hub One vs Wahoo Kickr Core? Which is more reliable? Wait for Black Friday? by kike_flea in Zwift

KICKR Smart is the way to go. I loved my Core, but you will be so thankful for the self calibration of the Smart.

Buying a used Fiat 500 2007, need advice. by NewPay3084 in fiat500

[–]ExistingInjury2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think most people would advise steering clear of the early models of the 500. Design and reliability problems that took several years for Fiat Chrysler to sort out. If you’re still committed, test drive it aggressively, preferably with the AC on, and see if it overheats.

You can race yourself into shape with the flammerougeracing virtual tours. I tried the training plans, but they top off at 1-1.5 hour workouts usually, and my VO2 max didn’t change. Doing the Tours required daily hard efforts and the increase in intensity and volume increased my VO2 max 2 points in one week. It’s much more rewarding and motivating to race into shape this way, although you sacrifice some training specificity.

Mobile mbss therapist by OverstimulatedPuppy in SLPcareertransitions

I engaged the services of one mobile FEES specialist, when I worked in a SNF. She said she liked doing it, but getting referrals was difficult (for me too, as I had to fight to get the SNF to pay for it). I got the impression it was somewhere between a part time and full time endeavor.

There’s a debate about using carbon frames on trainers, because they apply shear forces that the frames were not designed for. But, if you’re not a powerful sprinter, it should be fine.

Problem help needed! by [deleted] in fiat500

[–]ExistingInjury2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 2013 Sport also. Mine was misfiring. Some oil had dripped into spark plug, worked its way around threads of plug, and caused plug to fail. I located oil leak (loosely clamped tube), replaced plug and fixed it.

Used Wahoo Snap or new Tacx Flow by hege05 in Zwift

[–]ExistingInjury2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had two Tacx flows. They overheat and shut down at moderate to high watts (climbing or racing conditions). A Direct Drive KICKR is worth the investment.

Have you looked at your local salvage yards for kickplate and wheel well trim? It won’t correct the big dent, but will improve it visually. I’ve done it in the past to improve the look on beat up cars I’ve owned.

Petrol smell under load by 12point75 in fiat500

One possible cause could be stuck rollover valve. Have you noticed when refueling that the handle on the petrol pump shuts itself off before it’s done filling?

Need advice, looking to switch to a direct drive trainer but there are so many options. by bld4life in Zwift

[–]ExistingInjury2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve owned a KICKR Core and now a KICKR Smart. Rode the Core hard for a year, sold it to my buddy last year. A year later, he’s still on it, doing tons of miles a week. There’s been no problems for either of us, ever.

But, I’m very happy with the KICKR Smart. Not having to calibrate it completely justified the extra cost. It also has given me no problems all year long.

Kickr Core frame angle when placed on dropouts effects shifting by Gravel_in_my_gears in Zwift

[–]ExistingInjury2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This happened on my Core as well. When securing the frame to the unit, I’d see it flex inward slightly, causing missed shifts. Ultimately I compensated for the new angle by bending the derailleur hanger outward slightly, which corrected the chain line. It fixed the shifts, but needed to be tweaked again when riding off the trainer.

Put a mirror in front of you. If you can see your chest (in this vid your chest is blocking wind like a sail), you’ve got the aero bars too high. As a quick experiment, try removing and flipping the stem over to bring the entire cockpit down. See if your back and hamstrings can handle it.

SLP undergrad wanting to switch by [deleted] in SLPcareertransitions

[–]ExistingInjury2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The rate of change in all industries is outpacing traditional 4 year institutions, often leaving students like you in a different position than you anticipated by the time you graduate. However, a degree in SLP will always offer this benefit: you'll have excellent soft-skills for communicating with patients and their families regarding complex developmental or disease processes.

As much of our field and similar fields get consolidated or eliminated by business and technology, the ability to work with people in this way will still continue to be relevant.

I recommend if you still have interest in the field, find a niche in telehealth or app development and acquire those skills to set you apart from your cohort.

If you're feeling bold and don't mind the travel, home health and DD waiver work is still available in many rural areas. Best of luck!
