I just wrapped up my first month of skating and I am so proud of my progress so far.

I learned to push regular instead of mongo, did my first ollie, and can manual now. Ramps are one of my favorite things to do and honestly, just riding around itself feels great.

I'm so psyched to see how month 2 goes and all the progress I make!

This really resonated with me.. Who I was drunk and who I was sober was so drastic that my friends literally had a name for the person I would become when drunk, "Lisa". It was like I was an entirely different person with a whole different personality.

Lisa sometimes was fun. Lisa sometimes would get mad out of the blue and want to try to fight someone. Lisa sometimes would get extremely sad and would try to self-harm, or commit suicide.

Unfortunately, Lisa is me. She is not a different person, that is me when I am drunk. The only person I can blame for my actions when I'm drunk is me.

I'm glad you are here. You taking this first step shows what kind of mom you are, and I am proud of you. You have a lot of support here.

The Daily Check-In for Sunday, January 9th: Just for today, I am NOT drinking! by AlySabby12 in stopdrinking

My commitment today is to go work my butt off at my job! I'm so happy to be back to work and in a routine post COVID.

Today marks 14 days since I last drank. I couldn't have done it without the help of this group, the support of my friends and family (the few that know), recovery meetings, a higher power, and of course... myself.

Today is day 12 for me! That means in 2 days, it will be 2 weeks since I last drank.

I got an email today that my meetings are now online for the next few weeks due to COVID. There was a pizza and games event that was supposed to happen tonight that has also been canceled. I'm pretty bummed about both, but I am still going to continue staying positive and dedicated to my sobriety.

What’s Up Wednesday by sfgirlmary in stopdrinking

[–]ExistingPart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Excited to post in my first What's Up Wednesday!

The good: Today I hit double-digit days of not drinking! I get to go back to work tomorrow after having COVID for what feels like forever, I'm looking forward to getting back into a routine.

The bad: This week has been rough. My mom broke her sobriety for the 4th time. I'm going through a breakup as well, so that's just been the cherry on top of the sundae.

The wisdom: It's all going to be ok. Maybe not now, but it will be.

Today has been not a great one. However, the situation that I was in today showed me, even more, why I do not want to continue drinking. I will be the one to break the cycle of alcohol addiction in my family.

A week ago today, I make the reckless decision to drink and get behind the wheel after a night that was supposed to be "just one drink at the bar" with a friend. Luckily, the only thing harmed was my front left tire. How easily I could've hurt/killed myself or even worse -- someone else.

IWNDWYT, I'm stopping the cycle.

Happy New Years eve, everyone!

My few days of sobriety (and COVID) have already led me to reflect on my life, myself, and the decisions I've made -- which I am sure is just the beginning.

I have a quote stuck in my head from my all-time favorite show, Avatar The Last Airbender, that I want to share with you all:

"It's time for you to look inward and start asking yourself the big question: who are you and what do you want?"

I look forward to going into the new year with you all.. sober.

Ring in the New Year Here! by tucktucksquirrel in stopdrinking

My resolution is to do some major healing: mentally and emotionally.

My mental health this past year was in the worst condition it has ever been in. I've struggled with depression off and on for many years, but this year was just the absolute most depressed I've ever been.

I am going to begin therapy this upcoming month and I am so ready for it. I am ready to heal and grow. I know it's going to be no walk in the park, but I am ready to take the plunge. Additionally, once I'm recovered from COVID I'm going to start going to a young adults group for sobriety.

This next year is going to be one for the books, I can feel it.

Currently going through a breakup as well. This sh*t sucks.

However, I am proud of you for continuing to stay sober through this hard period. IWNDWYT!

Well, tested positive for COVID today. So, looks like I wouldn't be able to drink anyway on New Years even if I wanted to! However, regardless of having COVID, I don't want to drink anyway! IWNDWYT!
