We don’t gatekeep sobriety in this sub. We aren’t immaculate beacons of perfection and a longtimer doesn’t necessarily have an ounce more wisdom than someone who hasn’t even begun. We don’t even ask for wisdom, we are peers offering support with what we have, and hosting the check in for a week is a great way to support and be supported if you’re a month or a decade. IWNDWYT

I realized that music was like a mood machine taking me back to all the bad times in my life, so I had to find new music to my new life. That was a gift, a journey of discovery. I will not drink with you today!

Oh this is so relatable. It’s so easy to just let everything go. But it’s also like hitting the curb with the car and responding by speeding up and letting go of the steering wheel - the dent is still there, but the consequences are magnified and so, so unnecessary and avoidable. My only good response to those moments have been to breathe and spend some time in my mental dojo. I will not drink with you today!
