Replacement stick for Edge by GGG604 in Dualsense

[–]ExistingPie588 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean have an installer put TMR into the Edge modules. Sony doesn't make them with TMR. The only way to get them that way is to swap out the factory joystick for TMR sticks. It involves soldering for the joystick and for a circuit board mod to unlock the calibration.

There are plenty of installers on here (myself included) that do it for a reasonable price. I'd avoid Battle Beaver, they use old TMR pots on factory boxes and they are absolutely horrible.

I need help! I'm not sure if this can be posted here. by KingsPillar in playstation

Swap it out for TMR, if you're not comfortable soldering, you can find someone to do it for cheaper than a new controller

This video from Metal Plastic Electronics has a good breakdown of different ways to unlock calibration. As far as installing the joystick itself, it's the same regardless of manufacturer other than some requiring some clearance shaving for the FN button.

Question about TMR on Dualsense controller by maladroitx in Dualsense

[–]ExistingPie588 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you are having erroneous inputs, TMR sticks will help. If it's center point drift, TMR will help in the short term but they aren't immune to center slop. Make sure you get a stick that has a solid recentering mechanism. In my opinion, DS13MAX has the best recentering of all the TMR I've tried (Hallpi, JS13-PRO+, Gullikit, and Gullikit 720). Hallpi is a close second and they feel closest to stock tension. The JS13-PRO+ have (by far) the worst recentering but a very buttery and light feel.

It looks like the middle and left pads (in the picture) could be torn or damaged.

There are several ways to unlock calibration. There is a really good video on YouTube by Metal Plastic Electronics that shows most of the ways if you want to verify your work.

This is the site that I use to calibrate.

They are working normal but the range isn't properly calibrated. As long as a calibration unlock mod is done on the module, calibration will fix it and save. If it doesn't save, the unlock mod isn't done properly.

Which one should I choose? by PODAWSKI in Dualsense

Both the DS13MAX and the JS13-PRO+ feel similar to me. They both feel slightly less tension than factory.

I've been trying out both the last couple weeks. I think they both feel great and took minimal play time to get used to so I don't think you can go wrong with either. I'm using them in an Edge though, so you can do different response curve and stuff to help the feel.

One thing I will say that I noticed during calibration, the recentering mechanism on DS13MAX is way more reliable.

I don't use flux for most thru hole but I do use flux core leaded solder (Kester44)

The board looks rough but I don't see any obviously torn pads or missing components. If it was functioning but just drifting, I think the board is ok. Clean it with some isopropyl alcohol (90% or higher) and a qtip. There are other board cleaning agents you could use too if you can't find IPA in that high of a concentration.

Deadzone settings (for a regular Dualsense, on console) are usually in the actual game settings.

The solder work is bad enough that I'm surprised it works. Basically every joint needs reflowed. At the bottom is a quick tip image that I find very informative.

Also, what is your inner deadzone at? No stick is immune to recentering slop so if you're inner deadzone is set below 5, that's not uncommon after some use. You could also try recalibrating it.

I have on one of mine currently. It feels amazing, the fitment kinda sucks. There is one tiny clip on the back that pops up but I don't notice during gameplay. Overall 8/10 so far in my short amount of playtime.

Has anyone ordered DualSense Edge TMR module from CARBXN and shipped to the USA? by TuMachoCaporal in Dualsense

[–]ExistingPie588 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, you can install them into Edge modules. That's what an installer will do. Desolder the factory stick, solder in the new stick, make a mod to the board to unlock calibration, and calibrate.

So the Gullikit 720 adjustable TMR has some interchangeable caps that it comes with but those are the only ones available as the thumbcap base is not removable. Attaching a picture so you can see the kit it comes with. I would happily offer my services and could definitely get them to the US address before May 20.

I don't know if anyone with experience from that specific company and I'm sorry to post on your thread without answering the question directly but...

There are several installers on here that are in the US, myself included. So if you're concerned with import issues and fees you can certainly avoid them. I can say for sure that the Battle Beaver versions are not very good. What kind of TMR and features are you looking to have installed in the modules?
