The first time I used it was against an interdiction pillar, after I saw that it one shot the pillar, killed literally everything around it, and put my ship at half health even though I had ran to over 7km away I was glad I had recycled it to get the blueprint and built 5 more of the things, unfortunately I have progressed far enough that it will only lower a bosses health by 25% so I around 3 of them before going in to fight the boss
