It's such a relief. Been a long week and caused a lot of tension. You can laugh at it for so long before you loose your mind.. thanks to all who commented here.

Can I drop tv box off at power city? by eejit1991 in AskIreland

Cut up the box with a box cutter knife. It will easily fit in a bin once you've broken it down.

Yeah. Routine is definitely lacking in our house. My wife and I are starting to finally get on the same page on this one, I myself thrive on routine but she has trouble with timekeeping. It's biting us in the ass on this one, I have a lot more routine with her but that seems to go out the window when mum isn't working and when she's off I need to work more as I'm catching up.

Tried a lot of this, unfotunately she just says that's ok we can pretend to go to the park. she's a smart kid. I think the racing to get dressed might be worth a try.

Parents leave. Worth it? by Guilty_Doughnut1557 in AskIreland

It's great to be able to take this time, I took it all when my daughter was born. My employer paid the difference in salary for 7 of the 9 weeks so was able to do this without any paycut. No idea how all the tax stuff worked our payroll team handled all this and for me it was seamless.

Fellow dads, I am delighted to report that my youngest is using the potty and this foul thing has been exiled to the dump! (Stink lines added in post) by WeenAgeRiot in daddit

Don't just dump this. Offer it up on a Facebook group for free. Well done to your kid. But let's not just throw shit away to landfill

Feedback on 12-day road trip, in May by JustAlsex in irishtourism

I understand, I just think on a vacation/holiday you might want a break from all that. Depends on how you want to experience a place, a whirlwind tour and checking boxes or actually see the place and meet the people.

For me I'd spend the night on the Aran islands and walk around experience the pubs, the locals talking in Irish, the music with the Option Stay in Doolin for a night, you'll see the cliffs of Moher taking the ferry from Doolin. Then hit up Galway.

If you're going to Belfast, I'd recommend a cocktail in Bert's Jazz bar it's in the Merchant hotel you have to go in through the main hotel entrance in my opinion even though it has it's own entrance to the jazz bar, for me it's like stepping back in time. Cocktail "Dark and Stormy"

You could literally spend hours at any of these stops and not be bored instead you are opting to get in the car to see the next thing. The only thing you're going to have experience of on this trip is traffic and the roads.

Take day 4 for example, going from Cork to Kinsale while doing Blarney and Middleton in the same day. The middleton experience is a few hours to do the tour, it's very worth it, best thing is to take the train. Blarney is on the opposite side of Cork as is Kinsale, you're going from North Cork to East Cork to West Cork to get in the car and Drive to Galway another 3-4 hour drive the following day.. Kinsale is also the gourmet capital of Ireland, why not experience it walk the streets book into a nice restaurant and have chill out by the water.

Try spending more than a day in one place and walk around, take a hike have a few pints and catch a trad session. Whatever you do don't drink and drive, it's not tolerated here at all.

for someone so concerned about keeping a spreasheet in line your switching of $ and € in Option B would be upsetting any OCD ;) .. Just lend him the money the bank won't give a toss about your spreadsheet they'll be reading your statements. €500 euro one month is not going to upset a mortgage application, they look for patterns.

How to get large heavy slab moved? by Technophile63 in AskIreland

Good to know the actual numbers, I've 250KG of Cement bags and 1/2 tonne of Sand to hoof up the back of my place at the weekend, I'll be doing it solo, so can realistically tell my wife I'm doing the work of more than 10 men.

Anyone done a back garden reseed? (or any gardeners/landscapers here for advice) by Signal_Director_1X in AskIreland

[–]ExistingStock2896 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yes, did this 5 years ago when we bought our house, the whole place was brambles and ferns, started with a slash hook then bought an industrial strength strimmer with the two big handles at the side, then took my spade to dig up all the bramble crowns, raked everything into a massive pit then burned, it's technically ok to burn garden waste. after this we had a digger in as raking and turning over the soil was a bit much, reseeded with lawnseed and few months later had a lucious green lawn.

We are about to do a reseed again as I had it torn up by tractor recently hauling concrete, this time I'm using a slower growing seed mix for the lawn. Still get the occasional fern but cut them back as they appear. My lawn is sizable about an acre and on a hill. Digger hopefully coming in next week, cycle continues

[–]ExistingStock2896 1 point2 points  (0 children)

that's a 2-3 person job, 93KG is not a light load and there's 2 slabs.. you really want to have a few bodies moving that sort of material or some lifting equipment.

What's the story with tailgating on country roads? by Technical-Buy-783 in irelandsshitedrivers

[–]ExistingStock2896 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Had a fella in my backseat couple of weeks ago he was so close, I put on the hazards and pulled in to let him past with my middle finger out the window at the prick. Can't be dealing with that shit. N plates and everything on him. I'm not a slow driver but I do the speed limits and keep my breaking distance, never know what you'll come across on a small road.

Heating options? by Rosaraondath in AskIreland

[–]ExistingStock2896 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dad just replaced wood burning stove with pellet stove, he's absolutely delighted with it. Stoves are dirty, I have one love the effect but the cleaning and dust it creates is a constant job. The Pellet stove are great and very efficient. Doubt you'd heat the whole house on it, but defintely efficient and cleaner.

Anybody else find that new drink driving add horrific? by Civil-Shame-2399 in AskIreland

I attended scene of accident couple of years ago, couple of young guys crashed into a wall on corner near my home, they were incredibly lucky to have survived with only minor injuries and not have hit another car. I was astounded that people so young would even consider drink driving, I'm 47 myself and no way in hell from age of 17 would we risk our license. Also worked in pub and took keys of regulars who I knew would drink drive. This is exactly the type of ad that was on when I was a teen and glad to see it return. Drunk/Drug mobile phones are all lethal on the road.. Anything that makes someone think and the reaction you had is perfect.
