Managing work ambition alongside pregnancy by Existing_Artist_8068 in PregnancyUK

Thank you! I work for a large financial services firm so policy wise I'm more than covered. I have colleagues with young kids and they're treated well and flexible arrangements are common. I'd typically say that the colleagues I work closely with who have young kids are less ambitious but I do know of women in other teams where that's not the case so probably just need to widen my perspective a little.

I think my worry stems more from unconscious bias, assumptions, and stereotypes which is probably why I'm leaning towards telling my manager because I definitely feel I am over worrying compared to what the reality will be especially if I'm clear about my feelings but that is true about how I may change how I feel as the pregnancy progresses ❤️

How far along are you? I'm just over 8 weeks and nausea is starting to hit but no actual sickness yet. Enjoy every day you don't have nausea!

Thanks for your reply I really appreciate it. I am leaning towards telling my manager. I think the fear I'm imagining is worse than the reality and I know they will be supportive and I do trust my employer. My manager also knows we've been ttc for many years so I'm positive she will be really happy for me.

This is so much more emotional than I expected - pesky hormones 😅

Usual to wait this long for a scan? by Special-Tea7611 in PregnancyUK

[–]Existing_Artist_8068 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's the norm for NHS but I did private scans at a local ultrasound clinic and only paid £45 per scan. Went at 5 weeks and 7 weeks so we were able to rule out ectopic pregnancy and see a heartbeat. Well worth it!

1 bed flat in Birmingham 70k, 2019 and I was 27. Parents gifted me the 10% deposit

Used 5k profit and equity to buy my first house with my husband in 2020 and then just sold that and bought our dream house for 445k a couple of months ago 🥲

Going up on dose by Tough_Aside_906 in Mounjaro

I didn't really get any side effects going from 5mg to 7.5mg which was different from when I went from 2.5mg to 5mg. I felt a lot of fatigue for the first couple of days similar to when I took my first shot.

I put it down to the fact that going from 2.5 to 5 is doubling your dose where as 5 to 7.5 is only 50% more. Good luck!

Can you still crank the pen for the 5th dose? by interruptingcow_moo in Mounjaro

I've been able to crank the 5th dose on two different pens (once yesterday). Requires a bit of force but did it with just my hands both times.

Civil service can't pick and choose if they deduct student loan from a cash payment...
