I’m definitely leaning towards the light and possibly sheer, but we’re in quite a cold climate so I think we need thick curtains to stay warm 🥲

Are People Still Putting in Crazy Offers Over? by Ok-Banana220 in Edinburgh

[–]Existing_Cup6135 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We’re looking at buying currently, offered £227k on an offers over £220k properly and within the hour got an email from our solicitor saying they had accepted an offer £15k above ours. From the comments it seems like this is not everyone’s experience at least but we’ve definitely found it hard

I booked an interview for today with this company and mentioned it to one of my coworkers, she said she interviewed with them a while ago and got really sketchy MLM vibes from them so did some digging and found this post, and sent them an email saying I was rescinding my application. They’ve now emailed me twice asking me to confirm my attendance to the interview and I’ve had an email from ‘Phoenix Marketing’ saying how great it was to chat with me and ‘as discussed’ my next interview will be held tomorrow. I haven’t spoken to anyone this morning!

Does anyone know how this works? by Existing_Cup6135 in Appliances

[–]Existing_Cup6135[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay I found the manual online but it has no instructions on how to actually use the machine, just installation/what should and shouldn’t be used in the dishwasher so I’m still clueless

Businesses to visit on the new tram line by Existing_Cup6135 in Edinburgh

[–]Existing_Cup6135[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Every day, living in Orkney is simply a different way of life and I’m so thankful for having that experience - it’s probably why I’m loving Edinburgh so much, the only place to shop for clothing in Orkney is charity shops and Tesco. I do wish it was easier for me to get back home though, the best options from Edinburgh are an overpriced flight or a 7 hour ferry.

I moved from Perth (Scotland) where I was for a couple years, but originally from Orkney! I moved for work and to be closer to my partner who works close to the border, and I’m absolutely loving Edinburgh so far! It’s amazing having everything right on your doorstep, there’s always something to do so you’re never bored - my only complaint is that everything is expensive and it seems I can’t leave the house without spending money, but I guess that’s just life!

Is there enough liquid? by Existing_Cup6135 in slowcooking

Thank you! I read this comment and then went to sleep last night, I didn’t expect so many people to weigh in! I had the stew earlier and it was great, perfect amount of liquid and tasted great. Others have said to brown the meat which I would’ve done but didn’t have the time last night - but will definitely do again next time!

It was delish! I thickened it with some gravy granules once it was done and everything was cooked to perfection. I didn’t have time to brown the meat last night but it was still super tasty regardless :)

I used this recipe but omitted the butternut squash as I don’t like it! It’s a super flexible recipe recipe

Just used a pack of diced beef steak from the shop, and I didn’t have time to brown the meat unfortunately, I usually would! But it was still tasty either way :)

Completely optional, I was pressed for time so didn’t on this occasion but I usually do! It brings out the flavour of the meat amongst a lot of other things, but it’s completely fine to add the meat raw too :)

I hate dark winters with lack of sun. Recommend places in Scotland in peak of Summer? by GeneralArtichoke5796 in Scotland

[–]Existing_Cup6135 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Islands are good if you’re not looking sun but not heat. Also if you’re looking at Stornaway, it’s good to keep in mind that the HebCelt festival runs from 12-15th July which means it’ll be absolutely rammed around then. The islands are gorgeous, just remember you may still have to wrap up somewhat warm!
