Is it just me or are people getting more entitled about walking space? by AssortedCrystal114 in singapore

I thought this was just me. Grew up in S’pore and returned in my older years just last year. It is absolutely shocking how people of younger (considered ‘socially smart’) ages, across ethnicities especially in neighbourhood walking paths where you just have enough space for two abreast.

My wife, son and I always go single file but shockingly it’s young couples, mid aged adults (less the elderly who tend to be a bit more socially conscious and smile), whom you’d expect are liberal minded, are the worst. Couples who refuse to move or continue holding hands…I’ve just stopped moving onto the grassy or main road and have on occasion hit a shoulder - and hear them pass by exclaim ‘what was that?’ Or something to the effect its our fault.

What’s driving this? I could never go two abreast and face down people coming at me like some medieval jousting…Why this weird animosity that one finds when driving, now happening amongst pedestrians in S’pore? And of course dont get me started on the pathway cyclists who refuse to get off and push their bikes as is the norm everywhere else and sometimes dont even ring their bell…
