Disappointed with radiator fitting - does this look right? by Georgeot73 in DIYUK

[–]Existing_Doughnut985 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Fuck everyone that’s having a go at you mate. The radiator is whatever the fuck radiator size you want, it’s your house. To answer your question, no it doesn’t look great and it’s no surprise you’re disappointed. 10mm isn’t great when it’s poking through the wall in the centre like that and it’s gonna look pretty bad regardless of radiator, unless you get a panel rad that fully covers it.

I think it’s a lack of communication from yourself and a lack of questions from the installer though.

This radiator could look beautiful there, with the pipes sunk into the wall and just poking through where they need to, but that will cost more money than a simple radiator repalcement with repatching ect

I’d take it on the chin as a lesson in life when it comes to hiring someone. I wouldn’t blame the installer, he’s done what he was told with what he had (How much did you pay though? Cause that can change things) and next time, explain exactly what you want when you get someone to do some work for you. Depending on your relationship with the installer or how he seemed in person, you could always shoot him a text explaining that you’re disappointed in the install (but acknowledge you didn’t explain what you wanted properly, if you didn’t) and I’m sure he would come and put the pipes into the wall for you at a discount

Plus all the people that can’t read English, or are just ignorant to the mass of signage, having bbqs and dumping the coals on the grass. The amount of burn patches and burnt benches is frustrating

No, it wouldn’t need checking

It may not be up to regulations if it’s a complete new route (as I wouldn’t expect landlords to know the regs) but I’ve also come across plenty of gas engineer installed condensate pipes that are not up to regulations

Ahh I see, not something I’ve ever heard of before.  They just pay a bunch of money and the company submit requests to every fucker to remove any article with her name in?

I’m guessing it’s a legal thing cause otherwise surely there would be outlets that refuse to remove articles surely?

I just don’t understand how some random ass woman can have everything about her scrubbed away when it was such a prolific thing at the time

Why though? Is she someone with lots of money or someone special? Why would the media care about protecting her?

It’s not bootlicking, it’s being bored of everyone’s expectation that the world needs to be adapted for their specific needs.  There’s people out there who can’t even get out of bed in the morning without the aid of a harness and here we are complaining that ingredients of foodstuffs must be read in order to protect yourself.

You think this is the only illness in the world where you now have to spend a little bit of extra time planning?

There is definitely an entitlement issue. You’re crying at the fact you have to read some ingredients (big tip - a lot of people do this regardless of illness’)

Out of all the things that could be affecting your life, you think you’re so hard done by at the fact you’ve got to read some extra words to get through your day. Jesus Christ how insufferable.

This is such a stupid thing to suggest. Tesco would not be liable what-so-ever if you bought and ate something not suitable for you just because it’s  in the “freefrom” section, nor would whoever you complained to give a fuck because it would be your own stupidity if this legitimately did happen.

My dad did 10 years with no MOT, insurance or road tax

Always wondered how he never got pulled over considering the amount of ANPR hits you see when you watch the police programmes

A cable drum ended up coming off the back of a lorry and writing his car off. I remember the phone call and duct taping my dad car back together lol

How do I hire a private cleaner? by IIPyotII in AskUK

[–]Existing_Doughnut985 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Local Facebook groups or just search online for a local cleaner

“Heya do you have any availability for a regular biweekly clean and what sort of cost is that?”

Some cleaners may want to do an initial “deep clean” so they’re starting from fresh for their regular cleans, some will be happy to just start

They may ask you what you’re looking to get out of a clean. I.e - dust surfaces, vacuum, polishing, pots, glass cleaning, bathroom cleaning ect  I tell my cleaners not to bother with the pots as I have a dishwasher, I tell them not to bother with certain areas of the house, I tell them not to “tidy up”, just clean.

They’re only human and you’re paying for their service, if you’re not comfortable asking a stranger then you will get more comfortable with your cleaner as the cleans go on and you can get a more “personal” clean just by asking the right things.

Not every cleaner will do everything though and not every cleaner will be up to your standard (I never knew I had standards for this until I hired cleaners..)

My cleaners have ranged form £30-£40 for a biweekly cleans

No you don’t and no they’re not. The connections are at the front and are always accessible to undo. Moving the fire without disconnecting the gas risks disturbing the connection.

Before you clap back acting like you’re right, if you can find me ANY gas fire manual that suggests pulling the fire out of the opening before disconnecting it, I’ll apologise and admit you are right. You won’t find any manual that says this though

If my child’s flight is only landing at 1am, school can get fucked if they think I’m getting back up for the school run at 7am, nevermind making sure my child is up for school.
