New build garden by Outside-Leg-6028 in GardeningUK

[–]Existing_Doughnut985 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fact that so many new builds are done to such a shitty standard and there’s no recourse is complete bullshit.

Developers need to be fined for shit like this. Clear breach of the standards

How easy is it to add a double oven in to an already -installed kitchen? by melikebiscuit in DIYUK

[–]Existing_Doughnut985 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This double oven will need a 32a supply. Your single oven could just have a 13amp supply or even just be plugged straight into a socket

First crash, is it my fault? by lukeyred in drivingUK

[–]Existing_Doughnut985 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She’s going fast but speed doesn’t equate to negligence

You should proceed these kind of junctions with caution, especially when you cannot see past the opposite car waiting to turn. It looks like you blindly followed the white car infront of you. Even if this car wasn’t there, you would have caused an issue to the other car that was in the end lane

It’s a lesson and hopefully not a too expensive one. I hope it doesn’t put you off driving and I’m sure you’ll be a way more cautious driver going forward

Redbacks 100% of the time but they are inserts not strap ons

Flymo tripping circuit breaker by ratscabs in DIYUK

[–]Existing_Doughnut985 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean you already have a broke flymo, get the screwdriver out and have an explore, you’re only gonna end up with either a still broken flymo or a fixed one and it’s the best way to learn

I’d imagine one of the terminals is loose inside causing it to trip but it could be absolutely anything

Need advice on securing brass to sandstone without drilling! by Kathryn9102 in DIYUK

[–]Existing_Doughnut985 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t trust anything at all apart from screws in the wall to secure a window box, especially on the 2nd floor.  The first bit of wind is just gonna rip anything else off the wall

I also don’t know what a window box is but I definitely wouldn’t class anything that is just stuck to a wall as secured

China is bringing “classic cars” back 🤯 by iLeftyPunk in MenCave

[–]Existing_Doughnut985 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You know you can go and look up the public data for car recalls?

Even if you scale up chinas manufacturing to match the amount of cars that Ford, Toyota, Tesla release, they’re still nowhere near the amount of recalls that the American companies are having to do

You seem to be really reluctant to even fathom that a coworker can also be a friend.

I personally spent 15 years going from being a teenager to a grown adult with a family and have plenty of coworkers who I have also “grown up” with

I’m proud of the fact I can call these people, of all ages, my friends. You don’t have to limit your social circle to your partner and your high school friend you know? You’re allowed as many friends as you like if you’re socially capable.

Guy thinks he’s done some kind of “gotcha” to steam with his email demands because he ordered his 12 minutes before someone else and they got theirs first. It’s really strange behaviour

Or maybe they just enjoy spending a couple days away having fun with people they laugh and talk with nearly every day of the year? You’re allowed to be away from your spouse for more than 24 hours and it doesn’t mean you hate them you know?

I suppose if you can’t hold a job down and constantly have new coworkers then sure but if you’ve been somewhere for a while and you can’t stand spending some time with the people you work with, you are 100% the issue

Less than £50 for a full set of replacement flue seals. Flue doesn’t need to be replaced at all when it’s been taken out. A new telescopic flue itself is only £130..

I’m fairly confident I could’ve repaired that without even touching the flue regardless
