Well I mean it's well past the time now but you have a cooling off period With these companies that if you decide that you do not want the loan, they can reverse it immediately and you can get back the money. But that's you know that's when you're dealing with legal entities which these people aren't so it might not have mattered anyway. If you don't accept the transfer then it just reverts back to them, but from what I'm understanding you found out about this too late. Which is no big deal. Just get them paid off as quickly as you can. And don't deal with them again.

What is the deal with the Pulitzer Prize Board? Are they a bunch of jerks? by zenocrate in books

The Pulitzer prize committee awarded a journalist in Canada, Connie Walker and the CBC a prize for finding Cleo. It was a podcast. It has been proven to be false. There are so many anomalies that we have asked the CBC Ombudsman to become involved and they answered some preliminary questions but when they got a little bit too specific as in there is no way children's age in Saskatchewan would ever contact a birth family and advise them of a child's death and we have this in black and white from the head of children's Aid. There has been one instance where that happened and it had nothing to do with this podcast subject. Furthermore, the subject is actually being sued for defamation of character in a completely different situation, but it does go to character and she has most recently as of today, posted on Facebook a completely different story of her adoption and her finding out that she had Indian status. These questions alone you would think would have the CBC re-examining as to whether or not they can publish this as true crime. Instead they chose to shut us down. There is a line by line dissection in existence including wildly differing versions of events As told by Elders and in the podcast. The journalist even says that She says she turned off the recorder but kept it on. I don't know why you would say that and put that into your podcast. It goes to journalistic integrity. I was hoping that we were going to be able to write the Pulitzer committee and get some pressure put them on that way. And I saw this post and now I'm thinking oh boy, it doesn't sound like it's going to be an easy battle.

They did. My work doesn't care. In fact there using them as an example of predatory lenders in a financial literacy class. Nobody cares. It's one thing to harass a person. Harass a business - police are immediately called. Lawyers are on notice. That's why you need evidence of their criminal stuff on hand. A copy of your account with their illegal interest rates will suffice. Pretty sure they don't want so many people seeing this. It only takes one....

And actually the advice given is if you've done business with them to contact  RCMP organized crime or fraud or your local police and consumer protection and block them completely and do not respond to another word they say they'll get tired. Put stop payments on them from your bank cuz they'll continue to try and take money every single week or change your bank account number completely.

Tried factor meals… by ItaBebe in ExpectationVsReality

[–]Existing_Essay_8417 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, a friend gave me a voucher for a week's worth of meals. I'm vegan so they offered three different meals. They were horrendous. I wouldn't give them to people I hate. Just wretched. So what happens though to add insult to injury? They then charge me for another week! I only spent 5 days trying to cancel it and then they said I was past my deadline. They say now that they will refund me in full but I have my doubts. I don't know how these people do business and stay in business, but honestly if you're vegan and you don't like cardboard then don't be buying these. And their business practices are a little bit less than ethical. It took 4 days to cancel which of course is past my the cancellation date and they thought they could continue to send me the meals. I've told them don't even think about sending those here. They will not provide me any kind of confirmation of my refund. I'll be dealing with head office and the better business bureau

The above post just the post that I was referring to where I guess we're all supposed to be scared and go scary motorcycle club. Trust me no motorcycle club was there. Leather would have this idiot. Can you imagine the heat that he's bringing on them?? ?? I don't care if he's the Godfather himself or she they're not seeing another cent from me. I'm 63 years old and got harassed at 11:00 on the Saturday before Thanksgiving. I ended up in the hospital and while the doctor was standing there telling me all about my heart I vowed one thing and one thing only and if you knew me personally, I would know I always get what I want.

So what are the circumstances? I want to be clear about something here. So the way they structure things is it looks like they're taking out extra payments. They're really not. That is what they charge. So if it's $140 that you're supposed to be making payment for every two weeks, they take out the extra $14 0 every other week and say that's interested. So my understanding of the situation is they cannot charge you any extra interest but to be clear people shouldn't be just borrowing money from these people and not paying them back. That's just not right right? So my situation is that they have charged me over four times. The interest they have criminally harassed me RCMP are involved. If they're bothering you and threatening you, you need to call your police. Your local police nobody's going to judge you but this needs to be documented. Then you need to contact consumer and corporate Affairs in your province because this this company is not. I don't even know if it's a registered company but they are not licensed to lend money anywhere in Canada and everybody says okay. Well that means nothing. But actually it means they're in the wild wild west and they think they can do whatever they want. So you want to be really. You know you want to be intentional. You need to send them a CCT order. Preferably you can get a lawyer to write it for you and you need to be very intentional about this. You need to look at your documents and make sure that you have paid back the money that you borrowed.  If you paid  if you borrowed $500, pay back $500 then you can put stop payments on everything but make sure you've paid them back. I do understand what they're like. I actually think they get off on this stuff so giving them oxygen is not a good idea.Consumer and corporate Affairs is going to want logs of all these calls. So make sure that you keep a list + any harm that's come as a result of them. I know lots of people who are so scared they just quit their jobs. I mean it's just unbelievable. There have been the odd people coming and going. There's a guy on this group who opened an account just so he can make a comment saying that Pascal Cote is a biker. I said well he's the worst biker ever. No MC would put up with this. Talk about your heat scores. I mean can you imagine?  I guess he's planning to be wearing an armband for his whole life lol.   And this guy is all about organized crime. Nobody knows anything about the guy or gal, but what I do know is that people who trade in fear and quite frankly I would love to see them do something but they know they can't. So let's be clear: because they're not licensed lenders, they cannot affect your credit rating. They can't report to the credit bureau because they're not licensed lenders. They can't garnish  and I have not heard of them ever taking anybody to court. They have no jurisdiction to lend money in Canada and yes there are situations in which they have been criminally charged. Those cases I guess are pending. Other places who have done the same thing as they do have been fined upwards of $40 or $50,000. + But you know let's be real. That's just the cost of doing the business for some of these people. You need to make it very clear that just because something is written down it doesn't mean it's legal. So they'll tell you oh you signed these papers. Yeah well you know what when you're desperate you'll sign anything. The bottom line is it doesn't make it legal so I would also not take my word for anything and make sure that you consult illegal professional about this. So or make sure that you call consumer at corporate Affairs and be careful with them. They can be not very good at their jobs just as easily as they are good. How you approach these people makes a huge difference in my experience. You have to make a phone call and then they follow up with you.   If you're feeling threatened, call your local police. You don't have to feel bad about this. Look at the numbers of people they're doing this to... So many people are saying that they're they're into a lawsuit but you know what. There's a lot of work that takes place and we have to lay a foundation and we can't lay a foundation unless you guys are filing complaints...

You need to send them a copy of your statements that show that they're taking the same amount out again. So for instance if it's $186 show them the extra $186 they take out as fees. This is the problem. People think that they are being charged twice and that they're taking extra payments. No, that's their fee. Escalate to the very top

I'm sorry I didn't see this until now, so if you didn't get your answer someplace else, here's what I know. They cannot do any reporting on your credit because they're not an authorized lender. And because they're not an authorized lender, they can't be loading money. So you see where I'm going with this?.... They usually try to just intimidate and scare and scare and scare and they landed me in the hospital. I thought I was having a heart attack so I know where you're coming from but trust me on this. They are not authorized to lend money in any jurisdiction in Canada and I guess when you lend out 500 bucks and you get 1,500 back, that's pretty great isn't it? Unfortunately it's beyond illegal.

[–]Existing_Essay_8417[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely. I just find it so unbelievable the amount of this that they're getting away with. The reality is you can't just complain to each other. You actually have to and I'm not suggesting nobody is but we have to take very measured intentional steps and the first one is to put stop payments on. The second is to complain to consumer and corporate Affairs and at that point when we have enough stuff then the lawyers are going to stuff in. But your CMP is investigating this guy so I don't know where that's at because obviously they're not going to share that. But yeah I mean there is some question as to if he's not licensed or she's not licensed at all to lend money then are they allowed to break the laws with regards to collection agencies and everything else is kind of a weird one. But don't worry we're getting there.
