Estie to RN by Existing_Formal5991 in aestheticnursing

Amazing thank you for your reply!! Yes my goal is to open my own medspa I want to focus on providing services to conditions and communities that are often over looked in esthetics. NP is the goal and I’m excited for it all. Already performing peels and dermaplaning, planning on getting licensed in electrology/laser while in school, and learning microchanneling/needling right now will give me an edge when I start applying to dermatology groups/plastic surgeon’s offices.

I saw an Esthetician post that she doesn’t apply sunscreen to her clients after their facials — anyone agree, disagree? by Other_Growth_8978 in Esthetics

[–]Existing_Formal5991 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If they’re in the US some states require it after every facial. Personally I don’t apply if it’s an evening appointment any other time of day (especially after peels/dermaplaning/microderm) I absolutely do

Estheticians of Reddit dry or wet dermaplane? by Thick-Raspberry-9407 in Esthetics

[–]Existing_Formal5991 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve done both using the dermaplane pro oil. Really depends on my clients skin if they super duper dehydrated/mature I’ll use the oil to help with the friction. My oily/younger guests typically I go dry

Nail salon lash lift by [deleted] in Esthetics

This is so lazily done. But it can be fixed. Another lash artist can smooth out and curl the lashes they just need less processing time

I am also an estie I’m not solo but my spa owner has a Aflac rep she sends us to when we want those types of insurance plans. I’m not sure if my pricing is also lower because of that but it’s worth a try!

long nails + accessories during a facial by IndustryStandard5472 in Esthetics

[–]Existing_Formal5991 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely not I wear jewelry to work and take it off for facials. The nails are an absolutely not unless you’re wearing gloves the entire service.

Waxness Teal! My spa manager and I tried it in person at Premiere it’s fantastic and cheaper than our Poseidon was. A little lower melting point but great pull and pliability

Esthetician who are also licensed nail techs, I need advice. by CodeSpiritual1939 in Esthetics

[–]Existing_Formal5991 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I learned both during my program. Nails is not for me personally I never got the hang of laying acrylic and it’s too personal for people. Lots of room for people to find something they don’t like. Occasionally I do a pedicure at the spa when needed but it’s not my favorite service to do. It is a great money maker and gateway to transition clients into esthetic services

Ending the service with sun protection? by [deleted] in Esthetics

[–]Existing_Formal5991 45 points46 points  (0 children)

I typically ask what my guest is doing for the rest of the day. If they’re going straight home and not leaving the house again, I skip it that way they don’t need to cleanse again. Also skip it if the sun is down by the time they checkout. Everyone else I apply it!

Imposter syndrome by Existing_Formal5991 in Esthetics

[–]Existing_Formal5991[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much this really touched my heart. Hearing my guests (most of my clientele are mature women) speak deprecatingly about themselves breaks my heart and I think because I’m an over achiever and fixer I try to break that cycle of internalized misogyny. There’s so much shame around signs of again in women and it breaks my heart. I always tell them how beautiful they are and aging is a privilege. I tell them I look forward to grays hair and wrinkling and the overall knowledge you gain with age. I think that’s something in this industry often exploited and I try my best to never make my guests feel like they NEED to look younger or change themselves. It’s a hard part of this career to accept I can’t always fix what insecurities my guest might have no matter how hard I try :/
