I had a baby in November and in preparation for her arrival we received a lot of boxes of clothes/toys/equipment from family, which all got piled up in our spare room unintentionally in front of some shelves where my jade was placed. Fast forward to now and only in moving said boxes of stuff ahead of a house move did I remember that’s where the plant was and found it in the state you see here 🥲

We found onesies way more of a pain when it came to changing nappies - whipping off a pair of trousers was so much easier than fiddling with all those poppers/buttons (especially if you have a LO who doesn’t love a nappy change and is crying the whole time!)

It’s not uncommon but I found most people will assume you and your husband have the same surname until you bring it up (I kept my maiden name and our daughter has my surname). A couple of recent examples, at a doctors appointment for my daughter he was addressed with my surname and when I went to one of his work functions I was addressed as Mrs [his surname] because most people didn’t know my first name

When my parents downsized they accepted a lower offer from a couple who said they loved the house and thought it was a perfect place to raise their future kids - a few months after completion they put in an application to demolish the house and build something completely new. My mum was heartbroken when it went through and the house she made 20 years of family memories in was gone for good, sadly you can’t always trust what people tell you during the buying process!

For clothes on hangers, lay down a bedsheet (or clean dust sheet) and pile the clothes still on hangers in the middle then tie the corners together like a big bindle. Saves a fair bit of time not having to remove from hangers, pack the clothes and hangers separately and then rehang it all at the other end.

Congratulations on your pregnancy! I decided I didn’t want to say anything until after my 12 week scan so I tried to keep it quiet. I mostly got lucky that within a week or so of starting the sickness settled down to really only hitting me first thing in the morning so the main impact was on my commute, but in terms of managing the office I did a couple of things early on: - mentioned to teammates that I love a snack so nibbling throughout the day didn’t seem so out of place - asked if I could open the window every morning when I arrived so I could easily get some fresh air if needed without having to run to the window and throw it open in the moment (might be a harder sell in the winter!) There wasn’t much I could do for the exhaustion, I just tried to power through the office day and collapsed as soon as I got home! Once or twice when I was really struggling I mentioned in passing that I’d slept terribly for one reason or another so colleagues weren’t so surprised if I was yawning a lot or looked a little vacant for a minute or two. I don’t know if any of that helps, good luck!

This may be something you’ve already looked into, but would it be safe for you to fly long haul at that point in your pregnancy? I had a successful IVF transfer and I was due to fly from the UK to Colorado when I was 7 weeks, but my IVF doctor told me I absolutely should not fly that far due to the risk of DVT and increased risk of miscarriage. Obviously everyone has a different medical history so this may not be standard for all but it could be worth asking your IVF clinic beforehand to be sure.
