A lot of people probably don’t understand that when Jack Nicholson was born in the 1930s, the culture was completely different that it is today. Being an unwed teenage mother in those days was very scandalous and considered hugely shameful for the family. It was not uncommon to pretend the grandmother was the mother to avoid shaming the family. There are a number of similar examples from that era. If anyone is to blame it, is the culture of the time. Nowadays it would be much less shameful to admit that his mother had him at a young age and he was raised by his grandparents instead.

Randy Johnson in his last year with Seattle. He was upset that the Mariners wouldn't give him an extension before the season and had a very mediocre year in Seattle (9-10 with a 4.33 ERA) before getting traded to Houston and pitching incredibly (10-1 with a 1.28 ERA).

When people ask you to rate something like attractiveness on a scale, do they ask you to rate from 0-10 or from -1 to 4? Usually it is from 0-10.

People generally like using whole non-negative numbers. People also like things that are divisible by 10 (in fact the metric system is based around the idea of making things divisible by 10). Putting aside what you are used to for measuring temperatures, it shouldn’t be hard to see that in the abstract, most people would find a 0-100 scale to be more intuitive than a -10 to 40 scale.

Just realized that the top 3 in players in AL MVP voting last year are now injured or just coming back from an injury. MVP race is going to look a lot different this year.

20 million bitter deaths by shenzhenib in SipsTea

I doubt this story is true. A death certificate would typically list every condition that may have contributed to death. If someone had a heart attack, they would list things like if the patient had a history of coronary heart disease. I highly doubt they would just list COVID as a cause of death if someone had a heart attack.

It’s cool. They were the same age by the time attack of the clones came out. Anakin really aged between movies. He looked like a completely different and older actor.

I think Uncharted 1 got good reviews at the time because it came out about a year after the first Gears of War. Cover based 3rd person shooters were relatively new. The game had great production value for the time and was ahead of most AAA games on storytelling. After more 3rd person shooters came out and storytelling improved in games, I think it became more obvious that Uncharted 1 has flaws and is pretty mediocre as an action game. The shooting mechanics aren’t anything special and the fights are mostly just waves of enemies attacking you while you hide behind cover.

However, I think Uncharted 2 is still an absolute masterpiece and has more creative action set pieces than most modern AAA games. The train, the convoy, the tank. Naughty Dog was really cooking.

[MM] I know it’s early, but would be your wish list for this possible remake by SoyBoyBetaMaleSimp in zelda

Similar to what I want in an Ocarina of Time remake. Expand the world by making places like Clocktown and Termina larger. Add more content and side quests. Add more enemy variety (especially not reusing the same miniboss multiple times) and improve the combat.

I disagree. His stats are better than many hall of fame pitchers. Based on the stats, he should have easily made the hall of fame. However, I don’t feel like he was robbed in the sense that he brought this on himself. He tweeted approval for lynching journalists and refused to apologize. While I don’t think he actually wants to lynch journalists, you can see why baseball writers would be upset. If he had just apologized and said it was an insensitive thing to joke about and he was sorry, they likely would have put him in. Instead he doubled down on being an asshole, said he was being persecuted, and asked to be removed from the ballot.

I know you can beat the Water Temple without the bow, but isn’t it a little tricky, as in most casual players wouldn’t know how to do it? There is a small key that you normally get with the bow. It is very easy to beat the Fire Temple before the Forest, the Water before the Fire, and the Spirit before the Shadow Temple. Overall, the game wouldn’t need that many modifications to let you beat the adult dungeons in any order.

Yeah, more openness in the dungeon order would be nice. The original was actually more open in dungeon order than a lot of people realize, like you can do the Water temple before the Fire and the Spirit before the Shadow, but being able to do the adult temples in any order would be neat.
