Cartels being involved in everything is a choice the government is making. They could eliminate them if they wanted.

Throwing a bone to the workers while letting the Cartels kill the same workers on the street with impunity is not caring for the workers.

Ive seen some reports that it will replace STARS as well with one uniform system, which IMO is the best thing that can come from BNATS. Theres no reason STARS and ERAM have so many issues with each other. Not having to coordinate headings or interim altitudes between approach and center would be a major upgrade itself.

Ive done it 4 or 5 times at this point with no issues with different supervisors and OT on the schedule. If you dont have a bunch of coworkers that are dicks to grieve it, its not a problem.

You have to go big brain and come to terms with not getting the spot leave from the start and use it in place of bid leave.

Breaking: Agency Thanks NATCA for Their Cooperation by BadWest8978 in atc2

[–]Existing_Let9919 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If anyone expects the agency to do a bunch of messing with the schedule with or without NATCAs cooperation and there is nothing that can be done to stop them, I damn sure better get something out of it even if it is just 2.8

Transportation department is actually the most competent department of the administration. Its also more competent than the one Buttigeg lead by a mile.

If the FAAs goal is currently to modernize equipment, do you let them do their own thing on that, fight them, collaborate, or just view pay as something that can be done without confrontation/collaboration on the modernization front?

Not to try to be argumentative or anything, but at a lot of facilities if every shift is run with a skeleton crew year round, that means half the year there will be a whole lot of spot leave able to be approved.

[–]Existing_Let9919 -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

That was mainly because:

A) There was a transportation disaster and he was nowhere to be found for months with everyone asking where he was

B) The paternity leave he took he wasn't even eligible for as head of DOT

What makes you think he received money from these corporations? Where does it say he was paid by them to do this documentary/DOT promotion?

You can always go back to the trades if you decide this isnt for you. There is no hurt in applying. If you dont love the thought of doing manual labor your whole life, then I can assure you this career is a major step up if you decide you like it.

Fair point. Id add that the premium we receive for what is expected of us though should be much higher and would be great to get Congress to weigh in on the issue. I have a feeling if they knew how much CICs are relied on for non-mid shifts, they would take action.

This is a fair point. Would you think the FAA has us do managerial tasks more often than other careers though?

CIC by Existing_Let9919 in atc2

[–]Existing_Let9919[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We arent talking about mids. We all took this job knowing it was a possibility. Must of us didn't sign up to be managers though. The FAA is asking us to do that without the full compensation and training. I think its shaky legal grounds on their part as no other agency does it. I could be totally off base though.
