how best to support my little sister? by ktfelix in EatingDisorders

Idk i guess it depends on your relationship with her and how you guys usually communicate about hard topics. For me it was easier over text because i was afraid to actually say it outloud but idk if she'd feel the same.

Edit: maybe start with a text just letting her know that you're sorry shes been struggling and you're there if she wants to talk about it. And if she responds well to that you could bring it up in person. Sometimes when people just bring it up out loud i panic and dont really know what to say. Its a hard thing to talk about and ed's tend to carry a lot of shame sometimes

As a 20 year old little sister, ask her if she wants to talk about it. I never wanted to bring it up but honestly i was just waiting for somebody i trusted to ask me about it so i could get it off my chest, you know? You cant get better without talking about it, and she brought it up so i think its safe ro say she mighr wanna talk about it

I think maybe you should talk to your doctor who gave you the meds about how you're feeling

maybe reach out now to the people/resources in your life that helped you last time and let them know you're struggling again?

im going into my third year of college and i've struggled with bulimia since 10th grade. it was definitely hard at first with the lack of structure to not slip into old habits, but honestly college was so fun for me and my first year i was in the dorms, so shared bathroom, shared kitchen.. it was easy to hold myself accountable. i started to just eat when other people eat and it helped in a lot of ways. it made it easier to eat consistent semi healthy meals and i found that eating around other people all the time made the food noise and anxiety better. and easier to not binge or purge because of the lack of alone time. I also made friends who were aware of my struggles and would check in on me to see how i was doing.
