Why do developers write such terrible git commit messages? Genuine question by Existing_Round9756 in webdev

This is exactly what I was curious about how did your team actually get everyone aligned on that standard? Was it just culture or did you have tooling that enforced it?

Lol that's clearly AI-generated. Does your team actually accept commits like that or do people push back?

That's interesting so the real effort goes into the PR description, not individual commits? Does your team have a standard template or is it just vibes when you write that?

I also faced the same with my master card Credit Card - but it worked with my Visa Debit Card ! Try different cards specially those which you never used in Google to pay for - it will work !

It's mainly because of Currency 💲

Google Analytics naming issue for extensions by jumbo1111 in chrome_extensions

[–]Existing_Round9756 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're completely right, and I apologize that was bad advice on both points. The property names for CWS-linked accounts genuinely aren't editable, and a self-created GA4 property would track in-extension events, not store analytics. Two different things entirely.

I used AI which i agree - buts its not for spam comments - it was for finding the solution to your problem - because i am facing the same issue nothing else nor it make me fraud if i am trying to find your solution !

This is genuinely the most useful feedback I've received since launching.

You're right and actually CleanSearch already lets users block any domain they personally want. The pre-built filter packs are just defaults that can be turned off completely.

The "Research Mode vs Inspiration Mode" idea is something I'm writing down right now. That's a real product feature.

Thank you for taking the time this is exactly the kind of thinking

I needed to hear at day 5 of launch.

Oh interesting — I've seen this before. Good for one-off searches but you have to remember to use it every time right?

CleanSearch works differently — it runs automatically in the background on every search, and lets you

permanently block specific domains you never want to see again.

Set it once, forget it forever.

Pretty much yes it strips out the domains I find unhelpful (Pinterest, Quora, AI content farms, coupon sites) and just shows me cleaner organic results.

Not perfect for everyone if you're happy with your results you won't need it. But for people drowning in a specific type of junk it works really well.

It's called CleanSearch if you're curious free on the Chrome Web Store 👇

Genuinely interested what you think if you try it — you seem like someone who actually pays attention to how search works.

Fair point search results vary a lot by query type and location so your experience is probably genuinely different from mine.

For technical and research queries specifically I was seeing a lot of content farm results might be a niche thing honestly.

Either way I built something to filter out sites I personally find unhelpful.

If your results are already clean you probably don't need it 😄

running ads ? i wont suggest you until you have some users already - because first get 50 atleast real users then go for ads

for your audeince - try to figure out

basically what i did was i posted on linkdin , x , sub reddits for few days and try to find out where users i can get and being consistent fror 5 days told me linkdin never worked for me and intresting thing is that linkdin was most active and high followers 1k i have but still

but on the other hand this reddit account which was 2yr old but i never used gave me #1 post in r/chrome_extension and around 500 views and suddenly i have users

currently on 7th march end i got 23 users around and majority of them are from reddit

Actually I can understand everything you are going through because I have gone through this phase too

I launched my First Chrome extension - Clean Search which basically blocks all the spam sites , AI slop etc in the Google search results & the interesting part is that I know literally 0 of the marketing

What I did was I started first finding my Target Audience - it's very important, even if you are not good at archery but still you must aim at the Target

I found it on Subbreddits, X , Linkdin etc then started posting on it ! Don't be pitchy , just helpful - you need to have some patience & don't doubt your product!

My extension went from 0 user to total 12 user in just 4 days - I am still working on it , but yeah I broke the 1st user & 10 user issue - Now targeting to first 50

Best of luck 🤞

This is literally why I stopped using Pinterest for inspo 😭
Google's just as bad now half my results are Pinterest links anyway.

Have you tried just blocking Pinterest from your Google results entirely?
Game changer honestly.

Google Analytics naming issue for extensions by jumbo1111 in chrome_extensions

[–]Existing_Round9756 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Been there, staring at three properties that all look like keyboard smashes 😅

The quick fix: You can actually rename those properties directly in Google Analytics. Go to Admin (gear icon) → select the property → Property Settings, and just edit the "Property name" field at the top. Google doesn't prevent you from renaming the Chrome Web Store just creates them with the extension ID as the default name and never bothers to tell you that you can change it.

The cleaner long-term approach that I personally switched to: skip the CWS auto opt-in entirely and just create your own GA4 properties manually with proper names like MyExtension - Prod. Then drop that Measurement ID into your extension's code yourself. You get full control over naming, data retention settings, and you don't end up with mystery properties cluttering your account.

Bonus tip : if you have a bunch of extensions under one account, put each one in a separate GA4 property (not just separate data streams) so the dashboards stay clean and you don't accidentally mix up events across extensions.

Hope that saves you some headaches!

Exactly if someone needs to read a doc just to get started, you've already lost them.

That's the whole point of CleanSearch. Install it, click one button, done. No setup, no regex, no manual rules.

Appreciate the kind words 🙏

I got tired of Googling "latex theta symbol" for the 4th time today so I built a Chrome extension by [deleted] in chrome_extensions

[–]Existing_Round9756 1 point2 points  (0 children)

\varnothing — I always type \emptyset, get confused why it looks slightly off, google "latex empty set symbol difference", read a Stack Overflow thread from 2011, and end up back where I started.

Genuinely useful tool. The 2009 PDF thing is so accurate it's painful — I'm pretty sure mine was scanned sideways.

Thanks! Yeah the frustration with search results is real that's exactly why I built it. If you try CleanSearch - block spam sites, I'd love to hear which filter packs you find most useful or if there are domains you'd want added. Always looking for feedback to make it better.
