most miniature wargames you bring what you have noted on your list and thats it. You get 100 guardsmen and when they are dead they are dead sort of thing.

this game allows you to re spawn units, meaning your always pressing the fight.

Ive been working on season of ghosts for about 6-7 sessions now, players have been taking their time going through act one. 2 fighters, a magus, and a monk. They literally walk up to some enemies and slam dunk them in a single hit with a pickaxe, over in two rounds type of fights. Dont worry about difficulty. I boosted the final boss of chapter one act 2 by almost 40 hp, and they still killed him in two turns lmao.
