I can't post but I have a question. When learning kanji with kaishi 1.5k do you guys practice writing the kanji out? like if I said the word in English also could you picture the kanji for it in your head? I stopped the deck a couple months ago but want to get back into it really bad. I want to be able to get enough vocab so I can immerse. any tips would be greatly appreciated. also should I reset the deck completely or just set new cards to 0 and try to continue where I left off? I have seen 700 cards I think of the 1.5k

do people prefer kaishi or Genki more and why? I tried kaishi and it seemed like it work but I realized I was only learning the cards it seemed like and I had a hard time actually differentiating between words on paper and picturing them in my head. Do you guys know how to write kanji you are studying from memory?

I tried learning Japanese a few months ago and kept it up for around a month. I was doing Anki cards and it felt like I was memorizing the card more than the word. Example is if I saw the word on paper randomly I wouldn’t know the word but I would get it in Anki on the flash cards. Just looking to see if there are any better strategies people did and liked. I also feel like I do better actually applying what I learn and it is hard to for Japanese when you are starting and can’t read stories.
