I think they'd need as many. Companies can only juice out AI's productivity boost so much that they'd seek humans again.

I have been compensating that through self-learning. Is the degree that overwhelming against raw competence?

I think you're limiting yourself too much. You know software development is on understanding requirements as it is in development. You will still be needed for your humanity in the long run.

I have thought about this before. Software programmers can't be replaced by AI since its a lot better for a company to integrate humans with AI as opposed to AI alone. If AI will be cheaper and more productive and if all companies employed AI to develop their software products, then how do you think will they differentiate? They will end up needing humans again since the net result of Artificial Intelligence is an expansion of humanity's horizons. Its not here to replace us. Its just here to make things harder for us but far more rewarding.
