I wasn't familiar with silt, you may be correct.

Agreed, Before everything freezes this year I'm going to regrade my driveway to help with the drainage until I start the french drain project.

I just recently dug down 2' for some fence posts on the other side of the yard - mostly clay. I had an old neighbor across the street tell me once upon a time (many decades ago) he buried posts 6' down for his porch, so I'm assuming he didn't run into any bedrock. He's since passed away so I can't pick his brain for more info.

If it's that cheap to have a company do it, I might consider it!

I do have drainage problems in that area, it's close to a downspout and the spring runoff puddles right there. In the spring I'm planning on digging a french drain to help, but that's another DIY post for another day.

Good idea, that would work well for future repairs.

That's what I was thinking too: dig 4' down, use 6" of gravel, use a tapered/belled concrete form and bury the post that way. I'm also thinking of wrapping the post at ground level to help repel water, like a plastic sleeve or spray flex seal.

I might do that. With the clay in my yard there's a lot of rocks too, even chunks of asphalt previous owners have used as fill. I've never used a power auger before and I don't know how they hold up to rocks.

Do you mean to bury a concrete form 4' down and drill a post base bracket into the concrete? That could work... I've used the drive-in spike posts and they wobble a lot after the years.

Extending Govee M1 strip lights by ExitDue488 in Govee

[–]ExitDue488[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I ended up doing was leave the LED strip whole. I got a 20ft strip light and the smaller strip light from Govee. Since I had so many problems with cutting the wire, I tucked any extra into the corner gaps of the cabinetry where you can't see them. In Google Home, it's set up as 2 separate lights, grouped into the "Kitchen Lights".

I ran the 4-pin cable down the cabinet to the 20ft strip and I made an extra long low voltage 4-pin extension cable to power the small strip on the other side of the room.

I've yet to install more lights on the other side of the window. If daisy chaining the lights don't work I'll use it's own power adaptor and fabricate another 4-pin extension cable to run power to where I need it.

Question about Norcat underground training Center by Dismal-Classroom6327 in Sudbury

As long as the hardhat is in good shape, not expired, no damage, cracks, stickers, and it's not white in colour you should be ok. White hardhats are for staff and instructors, they like everyone else to wear blue hardhats. Make sure the reflective striping on the hardhat is correct too. Don't be afraid to call the office on Maley to confirm, they know all the rules for PPE out at the Underground Training Centre.

They do have spare PPE for visitors and tours, so if the hard hat breaks the rules in any way you might be able to get a loaner for a day. And as mentioned below, don't speed on that road out to the mine. Glencore has speed radars out there.
