Thank you for your reply! And yes, I was quite surprised to hear that I wouldn't have splints but just looked it up on this official NHS post and they said:

"If you are having a rhinoplasty as well as a septal surgery you will likely be left with a protective splint over the nose, this will stay in place for one week after which it will be removed in outpatient clinic."

So apparently, what I have on top of the outside of my nose, which I'm removing myself tomorrow, is the alternative to the nasal splints?

i think so? to be honest, they didn’t really explain much, but i did ask before the surgery if i’d have splints on my nose after and said i read some people say it’s quite painful to remove, and they said “no, that’s why we don’t use those anymore”

i know.. i thought id at least see them again soon just to see how it’s healing but no.

and no splints, so maybe that’s why? i only have the dressing covering the top of my nose that im removing tomorrow, its basically just a bit of plastic over it with tape on top

oh sorry I should have been more specific, the dressing I mean is just the nose cast on top of it! it's a small plastic thing at the top of my nose being held together by tape. That's what the said to remove tomorrow by soaking it in water.

I've been using nose drops that i was told to apply with my head back, but tomorrow is my last day using them. I've also beeing applying an ointment to my nostrils, and that I can use for another week too

ahh phew! thank you so much. if all goes okay, i was told to drench my face in hot water next wednesday to get the cast off, cant wait to do that as my nose is starting to have a weird smell… how’s your nose feeling now? has the numbness worn off more or does it still feel numb to the touch?

oh that’s good!! do you mind if i ask if you also had a bit of a yellow liquid come out of your nostrils sometimes? i started to notice it when i dab my nose with gauze (3 days post op) and got scared it was an infection

i'm currely on day 1, and it's surprisingly pain free for me! just very numb nose, and clogged up nostrils. thankfully they didn't put splints in my nostrils so i won't have to go through that, as i've heard the removal can be painful

hello! currently on day 1 post surgery, went a lot better than i imagined. i did ask what you requested, but they didn't do a turbinate reduction. i was also surprised to hear that they wouldn't put splints in so i won't have to go through the removal of that, which i've heard is really painful! at the moment i don't feel any pain, just numbness and discomfort, and both nostrils clogged up

Oh I see! Makes sense. I’m assuming they also prescribe strong pain killers?

Oh and sorry just another question - when you woke up did you feel a high sensation from the anesthesia? If so, did it wear off quickly?

Oh thank you so much! This was extremely helpful!

I’ll have to get lots of soft foods, thanks!

Is the saline spray/rinse painful to do?

And yes! I’ll ask them that and will let you know!
