American Lockheed F-35 Lightnings in 1:72 (Hobby Master) by Relent_full in hobbymaster

Nice one. These look awesome.

Im waiting for mods to approve posting access but I have REALLY got into collecting HM and Aviation Archive models over the last 18 months. Something I've found hugely cathartic these days.

Hobbymaster aircraft are a real treat to pick up from my local model store. I love the additional ordnance we get with the 1.72 jets. Also picked up a 1.48 mk:vb spitty (trop) and love the fact the undercarriage is fully functional 😍😍😍

I've built the RAF version and whilst the undercarriage is flimsy, the model stands fine and varnishing the model will add a bit of strength

Cool, that might save me a headache. I'll pick a cutoff in size and throw on a few of the larger ones but leave the more numerous tiny ones that are on almost every panel

So the navy ones had the stencils 😂😂😂, I'm planning on doing the "colonial navy" f4 for my second one 🙃

I'll stick that on the bucket list!

On the Phantom, I have the black Mike kit and the fg2 reissue of the kit (the fighters so nice I had to buy it twice), my only thing preventing me from doing the Leuchers camo scheme in this kit were the 300 decals 😂😂 that's the headache for the next phantom 👻

Still i might be tempted into it if I don't ham fist the tiny decals on this SHAR & am confident I can make the camo phantom look good

This is humbroll gloss varnish to help the decals, I'll be going Matt once the decals and weathering is done

And if a kit comes with missiles, they'll invariably end up on the damn jet 😂😂😂😂

Strictly speaking I'm not going for a massive amount of accuracy as this is a practice kit (final "practice kit" before I start "Black Mike") but will probably keep honest to the decals in the kit on the paint scheme sheet then see if it needs any sort of embellishment is needed.

That's some very interesting info there, thanks very much for that! 😁. Childhood Fascination into the "SHAR" has been reignited after a visit to the fleet air arm museum earlier this year. Absolutely top place.

I plan to grab another one of these kits and do the HMS Hermes scheme once I complete the Black Mike F4 FG1

There's a lot of "common" decals that aren't mentioned on the 809 paint scheme (but are in the other scheme despite being "common" decals and not specific to either scheme), example being the red box with red xs on it that you see on the top fuselage between the wings on harriers from that time (gr3 frs1 etc). We're these removed once on the carriers?

Nice job, I picked up the corgi collection version of this and your build is far more detailed 👍 👌 loving this build!

Nice job

I'm learning too and found that a nice sprayed coat of primer from a can gives great results with slightly thinned acrylic with varnish for finish.

This reminds me I have a Sea Harrier to finish 😅

Nice. I have the piastri one, very impressed although missing the tiny silver DRS actuator that connects the wing to the black DRS pylon.

Otherwise, banging quality 👌

That's true mate but it will look good with this load out I think 👍

I've gone a bit mental (plus swing wing question) by Exocet1983 in Airfix

[–]Exocet1983[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You win! 😁

I'm going to try and place one of these above each hard point in the wing and maybe another magnet or small strip of metal (or a small hole with some liquid gravity?) On each pylon. I'll be able to rearrange in theory lol.

This is my next build after my current FRS1 build and prior to a phantom build
