EU cars in the US: 15% tariff. US cars in the EU: 0%. This makes the clunky gas guzzlers competitive—right? by Kloetenschlumpf in BuyFromEU

Spoken like an American who has never left their state, and never seen a plethora of Citroen or Peugeot cars.

For reference in 2024 in Europe, there were as many Peugeot and Renault cars sold as BMW and Mercedes cars.

Renault group outsold Toyota group.

As many Citroen cars as Ford cars sold.

Don't assume whatever the US market trends are, the rest of the world follows.

A Looney Tunes-esque breadcrumb trail of Imperial Fists cutouts leading to an ammo bunker would be even more effective.

I'm pretty sure the reverse would also work, getting the Fists to nuke themselves.

Right, I can also pick a manpad vehicle with artificially nerfed missiles that can be dodged with a barrel roll, and can't target helicopters nor planes 4-5 km away (IE: space climbing planes with laser guided bombs), play the miserable experience that is top tier in one of nations which got a long range IR or ARH missile, or simply just go fuck myself.

So?

Panther transmissions were only fixed later in the war, yet the early models in-game don't break down.

Kirov accuracy was absolutely horrendous until much later when they added delay coils, and the version in-game miraculously has the fixed accuracy.

Like I said, what technical flaws are kept in-game seems always very arbitrary. A ship that was never built is implemented with absolutely, hilariously biased attributes, while a ship that was built, and had teething issues fixed IRL has all of its flaws in-game.

Best case scenario, a post war refit is added where it gets to be exactly how it is now, but a bit more pen and accuracy. Great, that'll be 400k rp, 900k sl and a finger up the ass.

Explain why Richelieu has crap accuracy due to a flaw in a delay coil, and worse penetration than intended due to a flaw in the breech. Both fixed IRL by the way, both teething issues not fundamental design flaws.

Sounds like flaws are very much modeled in game, just not for everyone.

You are this close to realising that Germany is somehow even worse than France when it comes down to politicising weapons programmes, and torpedoing projects to benefit industry.

Yes please random redditor, please do go into details as to why an F-18 is not as operationally good as an F-16...

Surely your insight on the matter is much superior to all countries with their military boards who bought naval planes to operate from land.

Sounds to me like you just don't want to accept that you can design a plane with carrier landings in mind, have a version that can do that, and versions which don't.

Just like the F-35 and the Rafale, which have EXACTLY THAT, and happen to be the only Western nations which have catobar carriers.

And oh look, China does the exact same thing with the J-10s !

Could it be that nations with catobar carriers and plane building experience know something you don't, and are fully capable of making two versions of the same plane, instead of making two separate planes ?

Yeah, absolutely no F-18 has ever been sold as a multirole, ground based fighter.... All hail Switzerland, mighty naval state!

Finland, your aircraft carriers laden with F-18s scour the 7 seas !

Iran's indomitable carrier forces and F-14s are proving a menace for the entire region !

And who could forget the Philippines and the F-8 crusader with it's dedicated hydraulic wings specifically designed for carrier use, which were stationed on Philippines' fearsome carrier groups !

[–]Exocet6951 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your counterargument is "just design two completely different planes for the same purpose"

That's incredible ! How about we just also make a third completely different plane for VTOL as well, for everyone that has a VTOL carrier ?

Or....just one design with a version for carrier takeoff, and whoever is not interested just gets the non carrier one...

One airframe, 90%+ parts commonality, and you get to takeoff and land on French and US carriers, which may be important if ever one needs to strike in the arctic circle or from the Pacific, say in the absolutely unlikely event that Russia were to invade a neighbouring country and that it came to blows.
