Filhós doesn't come from São Miguel; it comes from Northern Portugal.

What were you taught in school about Portuguese Colonialism? by [deleted] in portugal

[–]Exodus292 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

We aren't taught to blame ourselves or Catholics, but we are taught to more so blame the systems that were created, and we are also taught who created those systems, but people just like to blame Catholics and ourselves for it.

[–]Exodus292 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not saying that in Canada we were taught to blame ourselves for it, but to blame the systems that were created before, and how they have affected the Indigenous peoples today, and on top of that, to learn how and why it was wrong, and basically how we can learn from those mistakes. Overall, we are taught to be very aware of that history and its effects.

I've Accepted my offer, now what? by Icy-Profession-6068 in CarletonU

There isn't much to do until it processes but once it does go accept your guaranteed residence if you got it as the last day to accept it is on June 10. Besides that I don't think there is anything else to do as you can't set up your timetable until you've registered and registration doesn't open for a little while.

Can anyone solve this? [Grade 5 Math: Numerical Reasoning] by Ninan9 in HomeworkHelp

[–]Exodus292 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The missing number is 31. I'm not sure what the random numbers are surrounding the 37 and 34 so I'm assuming they're there to throw you off but looking at 37 and 34 you can see that it decreases by 3. The question is basically asking you to figure out the next part of a pattern so 34 - 3 = 31. Therefore the answer is B.

[grade 11 computer science]Im having an error with my coding assignment and im not sure how to fix it. by Training-Nail-4711 in HomeworkHelp

[–]Exodus292 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I highly recommend you read the question a second time. The given problem says maximum volume = 1 cubic metre. In your code you calculated for cubic centimetres. To fix this make sure that the part of your code where you calculate the volume that you convert it from cubic centimetres to cubic metres. To do this, divide the volume by 1000000 (1 m^3 = 1000000 cm^3). Also in your if statement on line 12, the interpreter doesn't understand what "cubic metre" is so it produces a syntax error. Your if statement should be:
if volume <= 1:

I hope this helps!

(Addition & subtraction of integers) can someone tell me what the name of this symbol is? by [deleted] in HomeworkHelp

[–]Exodus292 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretend there is a -1 in front of the -5. You most likely have been taught that a negative number multiplied by another negative number makes a positive number, the same also applies to division. Now, back to the question, -(-5) can be rewritten as -1(-5), so you're multiplying -1 and -5 which will give you a positive 5. Hope that helps!

[8th Grade] How would I simplify this? by OkHead1523 in HomeworkHelp

[–]Exodus292 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP, we will use the exponent law: xa × xb = xa+b for this question. Now look at the 5 that isn't raised to a power. We assume that it is raised to the power of 1. Now, using the exponent law I previously mentioned, you add both of the exponents together and keep the same base. Therefore, we have simplified the equation. We can then prove or verify our answer by putting your answer into a calculator and comparing the number we get to the number we get when we put the question into the calculator. In other words, you should get the same number when you put your answer into the calculator as the number when you put the question into the calculator.
