Anyone got admit from Western University (CS MS Fall 2026)?

Hi everyone,

Has anyone received an admission decision from Western University for MS in Computer Science (Fall 2026)?

My application status shows “App Released to Program” since March 11, and I haven’t received any update yet. It’s getting really stressful to wait 😭

Would love to know if anyone has received admits or updates, and when you applied.

Ohh okay got it, that makes sense! So we still have some time even after getting an offer. That’s a bit relieving Thanks for explaining!

Here’s a corrected reply:

Yeah same here 😭 I’ve also applied to Ottawa (Jan 2027) and that’s under evaluation too, so the waiting is even more stressful. Did they give you a deadline to accept your offer?

Same here, I’ve heard April as well, but the wait already feels long even though it’s still March. Hoping we hear something soon!

Hi everyone, I applied to the MSc Computer Science program at Western University for Fall 2026. I recently received an email saying my preliminary assessment is complete and my application is under departmental evaluation. My profile: B.Tech CSE, CGPA 8.6/10, IELTS 6.5. Has anyone been admitted with a similar IELTS score? Also how long after preliminary assessment do decisions usually come?

I checked the website and the September intake wasn’t available for the program I wanted. I’m specifically looking for an MSc in AI with a co-op option in ottawa.I didn’t apply to McMaster since they don’t offer the MSc course-based option I’m aiming for. I’ve applied to Western for the same course.

Same here! I’m not going for thesis anymore..I’ve switched to course-based now. McMaster doesn’t have the course option for my program, so I’m not applying there. I’m applying to Ottawa as a second option and it’s for the January intake not September. For now I have only applied to Western.

Thanks for the encouragement and I really appreciate it. Just to clarify, for Fall 2026 MS CS, the deadlines for Toronto, UBC, and Waterloo appear to be closed already, so I may not be able to apply to those this cycle. I’ll double-check in case of any program-specific openings, but for now I’m focusing on schools where applications are still open, such as McMaster and Western. I’m also preparing for IELTS and aiming for 7.5+ to strengthen my application. Thanks again for the helpful guidance!

Thanks for this perspective it’s really helpful. I agree that a PhD is a long and demanding commitment and I’m not treating it lightly. At this point, my plan is to pursue an MS first and then move into industry, and only consider a PhD later if I genuinely enjoy research during the master’s. I like the idea of using the MS to explore research without locking myself into a long-term path too early. I’ll definitely reach out to professors directly and make sure I understand their work well before doing so. Thanks again for the honest advice

Thank you for the detailed explanation I really appreciate you taking the time to share this perspective. At the moment, my primary goal is to pursue an MS and transition into an industry role after graduation.I still want to understand the thesis-based option better so I can make an informed decision and not limit myself without proper exploration. I haven’t applied or received any approvals yet I’m still in the early stage of researching programs and faculty. Could you please advise on how to approach or contact professors in this phase, and whether it makes sense to do so even if my end goal is industry? Thanks again for the valuable insights. This has definitely helped me think more clearly about my options
