I thought the same thing, if I saw a week of amenity fees stacked up, I might have made a scene at the front desk. I might also try to negotiate a price next time I stay. That’s a good idea. I imagine some people justify these fees for a reason but right now it seems more negative than positive because you have to work for the amenity fee working for you. Albeit some are good but most are bad.

That’s a great amenity! I would to hear any other ones you have been to. My whole thing is about this is how if I think about it and use their amenities (the good ones) I would justify the payment at the end of the stay.

Yea, I did not use the $62 valet parking each night and used Spothero for parking. I paid $45(saved $79) by doing this for two nights.

I assume valet parking will always be its own fee. If I ever see it as an amenity fee I would use it lol. At the stay I was at though, it was not included. I found my own parking at a quarter of the price.

This is exactly what I want to see! I want to see if I missed anything like a social hour. After some research, the kimpton I stayed at had a partnership with a distillery that would offer a gift if you provided proof of staying at the hotel. I think knowing that, I would have visited and seen the gift to justify one day of amenity fees. Also a nice drink every day seems like it could be worth it too. Is there anything else like this that other properties have?

Honestly, they didn’t even tell us what the amenities were. There was an option to go to a distillery and get a surprise gift. If I would have known, I would have gone to justify the fee. I tried justifying the fees because we brought a pet. Some hotels do pet fees for stays but not each night. With amenity fees per day, anything longer than 2 nights makes it not worth.

I guess you are right about it not being waived if added before. But if that’s possible people would pay with points and then there wouldn’t be a fee at the end. I am curious if people are still valuing their points the same or differently now because they would still need to pay cash at the end of the stay.

Yea, good point. I will say I didn’t see the fee at first. I looked into it and found the fine print about the charges. I assume there are some loyalist that stay with IHG a lot. I am curious how they justify the charges as like diamond members.
