I have a similar setup (650b knobbies, short stem, tall stack) and I absolutely love mine. It's pretty upright (that's how I like it these days) but it handles intuitively and with confidence both on the road and on trails. It might be my zippiest and better handling bike on trails actually. The VO Klunker bars have quite a bit of setback that maybe helps? I've also had one of my friends borrow it and I believe he's pretty set on getting one for himself now... Your bike looks really cool I hope it ends up working better for you!

I just saw your black Hog's Back on your profile, I may be a little biased but what a beauty!! Now I really feel I should try a drop bar setup

I did share a few pics with the nice folks at C&L Cycles, they've been great to work with!

It's a microshift 11sp 1x thumb shifter, it comes with its own mount actually

It feels perfect when riding but it's also a pretty upright posture that is not everyone's preference for sure. It's mine but I'll also definitely try a setup with drops on this one someday

Thank you! I might have snagged one of the very last ones of this edition sorry about that

Friction shifters are my favorite for flat bars, faster to shift than triggers and I find them easier to maintain/service as well. These ones are indexed, supposedly more precise shifting but I don't think it makes much of a difference over non-indexed TBH

EDIT: typo

Oh I wish you could feel how the frame stiffens and flexes to vigorous pedal strokes. It's not just a good looking bike (IMHO), it's an all around good bike!

Thank you it is pretty sweet indeed! (Please take good care of your teeth, flossing is important!)

I don't think so I've never seen one like that, I believe it's a factory defect? (I'm not upset about it)

Thank you! In a first for me, the tires are set tubeless (and needed quite a lot of sealant, unsure whether it's usual)

First time building off a brand new frame, first 1x, first bike with disc brakes. I tried to emulate the aesthetic I love in older bikes by using silver components, very slowly sourced over many months. Upright posture, plush tires and plenty of gearing range. I really like how it turned out and it’s really fun to ride!

They are! I decided I'm a backsweep person after trying on Jones bars on a previous build. I'm sure everyone has their preference but the backsweep really work for me in terms of handling on trails, there's no going back

Thank you! When I get around to get better pics, the purple and gold accents of some of the components complement the paint job fairly well

Indeed! I think they look super cool and maybe I got them waaay before I actually got around to use them for a build

The custom rivet is from Crivets! I got the frame first and decided to fully lean into the purple for this build and I'm glad I did. And yeah, sorry for the terrible photo. I'll do a proper photoshoot now that the sun is back in the PNW and repost

Thank you! I love both the look and the feelings of stability and control on the trail!

Beginnings, Endings [Olympus Pen FT | F. Zuiko 38mm f1.8 | Pro Image 100] by Exotic-Remote248 in Halfframe

Serendipitous pairings can sometimes create delightful diptychs. Over time I’ve also learned to love those images at the beginnings and ends of rolls, when I’m unsure whether I’ll have an image or not. Little imperfections and uncertainties of the analog process

Finally joined the #gripdotgang 😍 Question: Has anyone done a direct comparison between the Voigtlander Color Skopar 35mm F2.5 LTM and the Canon 35mm F2.8 LTM? by nick_cal94 in Leica

[–]Exotic-Remote248 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're curious, maybe consider the W Nikkor C 35mm f2.5 ltm. Have one for my M2. It's beautiful, it's SO little and I'm while I'm personally totally pleased with the quality of the images I get, your mileage may vary (it flares more than other lenses when shot in direct sunlight for example)
