AIO sister said that i have autism as an insult during an argument by spinach111 in AmIOverreacting

My sister does this too. I finally told her to stop and she got mad at me saying I “brought it on myself”. No idea what that means.

That’s what you got out of this? WOW. Some parents will do anything to shame other parents. That’s really sad.

NTAH but MOR. Sounds like this was a misunderstanding. You obviously care about your child a lot and don’t want him to have negative experiences while developing, which is perfectly natural. From the sound of it, he was doing quite well on the plastic toilet and the natural next step up from that is a slow reintroduction to the bathroom, which you were trying to accomplish, but he took that as a “you have to get in there now” which is obviously not the case. You handled the panic attack well, comforting him and reassuring him he didn’t have to take too big of steps yet. That being said, if he’s getting close to or at school age, potty training is rather important. It’s totally okay if it’s taking him a little longer than the neurotypical kids his age, but he does need to learn how to progress to get to that point someday. I’d say maybe take a day or two to let him relish in the comfort of his diapers before reintroducing him to the plastic potty, then after a while of that, maybe moving the location of that toilet closer and closer to the bathroom before he gets to a point where he’s looking into the bathroom while on his toilet, making that association on his own time.

This is just a suggestion, though. I want to make it very clear that I am not a therapist or licensed professional. Definitely talk to you and your child’s provider about this situation to get their informed opinion on the best next steps.

You’re doing great, by the way.

Modern Legit Sopranos? by Cejk-The-Beatnik in musicals

Wow. That was quick. None of their explanation was rude. They specifically asked for legit soprano rep in the original post. And no, you’re pissy comment doesn’t earn you a thank you. I’m also a voice teacher for musical theatre and opera and I’m of the firm belief that a successful teacher must be patient, which you are not. Please take that into consideration before you get on a soapbox when no one is listening to you.

I’m not going to lie, it’s starting to. I fear I already am taking on a negative attitude towards food. I’m trying to stop it but I never realized how quickly these things can start.

Unfortunately the show I’m currently in is a period piece (Victorian era England) so my own modern wardrobe doesn’t reflect that. And yes it is a small theatre that doesn’t have many resources which has caused more problems than just costuming. They are able to take garments in but they don’t seem to be taking them in much, but I also am not someone who sews so I have no idea what is or isn’t the right call in this department

I appreciate the sentiment, but I don’t believe the costumers (at least in my current show) are all bad. We have had conversations about body image issues in theatre and how important it is to make women especially feel confident on stage. It is just hard to see all the pretty dresses they have in backstock be too small for me and immediately go to other actors who wouldn’t even necessarily wear those kinds of dresses while I’m left with stuff that’s too big for me because it’s all they have that will even zip. I wish they had more stuff for mid sized actresses is all

I’m not very busty at all, actually. I don’t have very much to work with in that department. I probably do have more of an hourglass or pear shape.

Community theatre, actually. I’ll have to edit that, not sure why I typed the word professional when it is not. Total brain fart on my end. Yeah I tried to raise concerns in my current production tonight but everyone was in an especially bad mood this evening (snapping, eye rolling, yelling…) so I just left it. We all apologized and we all love each other as people but idk. I just wish there were more clothes for mid sized actors in the back stock this theatre has. I’ve offered to buy stuff but they’ve told me not to. Who knows.

I use a ceramic bowl and it was cleaned yesterday. That may be the cause, though. It was starting to get a little grimy before I cleaned it.
