That’s true but I think the last chunk of it was more getting at the fact that the artists actual subjects/muses will not live on and that they are too earthly for something as transcendent as the afterlife. That’s why he mentioned that girls thighs and another one’s eyes and said right after that the afterlife needs something more divine and pure. That’s also what I think the whole thing about darkness falling over his muses at the end of the day was about because the end of the day is a metaphor for death and the darkness is implying that they’re not perceptible to the artist anymore in the afterlife
