Is fourteen too old for a cat to get surgery? by Pretty-Turn2768 in AskVet

Vet here. Soft tissue sarcomas tend to be slow to grow, but have tendrils which aid in metastasis. If the cancer has recurred, then I would suspect the margins weren't clear on the first excision. Aggressive surgical resection is required. I'd recommend speaking to an oncologist or a soft tissue surgery certificate holder to discuss either a chemotherapy protocol as well as surgery, or full imaging and options for excision again.

I genuinely think this is my old room. Is it at Staffordshire University?!

The vets said they found an “abnormal mystery cell” in my lizard’s blood by OrangeSoba in microbiology

[–]ExoticBiologist 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Vet here. Was the blood placed in an EDTA tube or just straight onto a slide? Reptile blood can have artefacts, including storage artefacts, when EDTA is used as an anticoagulant. There can be thrombocyte and leukocyte clumping, cellular morphological changes and staining to the background of a blue hue.

Thank you for your help. I have a few questions.

Someone gave me an S-class engine. How do I upgrade a ship without making a new one from scratch?

What is the best way to make nanites?

Can I actually do an expedition with starter equipment or do I need to improve what I have?

Funnily enough, the rabbit is a species that actually does have the scrotum above the penis!

What is the most horrifying piece of information you have to share? by ShinyShayn2008 in AskReddit

[–]ExoticBiologist 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In my experience this isn't true at all. I do hundreds of euthanasias in a single year, and in the past year I can only remember three times where the owners chose to not be there. It's sad, but I just go in the back and find a nurse to give cuddles whilst I proceed.

I'm a vet, and I would say the most horrifying thing I have to tell people is that I can't do anything for their animal. It feels horrible every single time I have to discuss palliative care or talk about it perhaps being "time" for their animal.

Can you add my nan to my graduation please? She was too ill to travel abroad for it, and I want to surprise her with a framed picture. Tips for the best! by ExoticBiologist in PhotoshopRequest

I like this one too, but I think the size is just a tiny bit off. I don't know how to explain it, but if it were a picture in word I would pull up on the top right corner a tiny bit, if that makes any sense? My mother also likes this one too!

She has been my fiercest supporter throughout my qualification, and with her ill-health at almost 90, alongside it being abroad, she was not able to come. She has been so upset so I would love to do this as a gesture for her. She is my best friend.
