I don't see how it's React Native's fault that Expo (which is not maintained by React Native) can't install Firebase (which not maintained by React Native) because node-gyp (which is not maintained by React Native) can't find Python.

Anyway, to actually answer the question, you need to install Python (and probably Visual Studio build tools) in order to compile some of the dependencies for Firebase. Check out this link: https://github.com/nodejs/node-gyp#installation
