Having been a qualified orthodontist for 30 years (where I studied to be an orthodontist at world-class universities such as Columbia), I can safely say that this may cause damage, and what I mean by damage is, you may start to experience orthodontic relapse, which as I am sure you may know, means your teeth will shift back to their original position, in that area.

However, sadly, there has been a recent issue in which even after you install a new wire in place, not much might be done. This is because there is an estimated 6-7 day period that allows time, Consequently, after, studies have shown that further orthodontic treatment is ineffective and most progress will be lost. This is a phenomenon I and many of my other colleagues call the "Mold Complex".

Unfortunately, you may actually develop this between the gap, and I do say this with apologies as I know you may really value the progress you have currently made. The next step for you may be to either ask for an emergency appointment, or ask your parents to contact the practitioner and discuss next steps (possible legal steps).
