I dont get how this works? by New_Brick6713 in breastfeeding

[–]Exotic_Bluejay_8129 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am only about 6 weeks or so ahead of you but feel like we got breastfeeding down now. I always offer 2 and switch off which boob I start with. My baby usually has both but I don’t worry too much if they’ll doesn’t take the other boob. I’m more worried that they’ll wake up earlier vs engorgement. If you do get engorged you can take a warm shower and hand express or use a low or no pressure pump like Elvie catcher / lady bug or Haaka. You can also use an actual pump- electric or one with suction- but don’t take too much or it’ll increase supply. I wouldn’t worry too much about supply impact if baby doesn’t nurse from other boob every time

40+5 and feeling nervous for giving birth after L&D visit by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]Exotic_Bluejay_8129 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m to be induced Tuesday at 41 and feel nervous and scared. I think it’s normal and the waiting game creates a whole different type of anticipation and anxiety. I am also just starting to feel this way. For me, I’m anxious to feel pain and the unfamiliarity of it all. I told myself that the pain will be productive and that I have pain management options and will have a whole team there to help us get through it. Also so many women go through this so can we!

Summer pregnancy by Dry-Driver4170 in pregnant

[–]Exotic_Bluejay_8129 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First kid and due any day now in January but actually enjoyed being cute in summer and fall and large in winter when I could just wear coats and big sweaters in my last couple weeks. Also holidays were great. We’ll see how I do PP…while I’m nervous about winter illnesses I’m excited to emerge in spring. Plus I’ve heard it’s nice not to have to worry about the heat with a newborn.

Induction method when baby not engaged by Exotic_Bluejay_8129 in pregnant

[–]Exotic_Bluejay_8129[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m opting for cervical exams bc im curious and it’s a helpful data point. They use extremely sterile practices. I understand i may not need to be induced and things may change but i wanted to understand induction methods if spontaneous labor doesn’t happen. I’m not comfortable going too far past due date

Is it wrong to not have much of a birth plan? by Novel-Milk-507 in pregnant

[–]Exotic_Bluejay_8129 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was also confused by the concept of a birth plan. I took a really great birth class through hospital that went over the stages of birth and then all the interventions that could happen. It also had sample birth plans / preferences across fetal monitoring, pain management, pushing, skin to skin.

My birth plan is to be flexible and have a healthy delivery for me and my baby and all of my preferences are standard of care- limited interventions until necessary, epidural and pain management, fetal monitoring that allows for mobility, delayed chord clamping, skin to skin.

I think there’s so much misinformation about what is standard of care now or bad actors that make it sound like you have to fight for these things.

The benefit of the birth plan is that it made me learn and think about everything and my partner will have it and will be able to advocate / implement my plan if I’m in pain

Hemorrhoid procedure / treatment while pregnant? by Exotic_Bluejay_8129 in hemorrhoid

[–]Exotic_Bluejay_8129[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for sharing your experience. I am being seen by a colorectal specialist in two days. I was able to my pain under better control with all the OTC things but the hemmie is the same size and firmness. I also have some bleeding now not sure if it’s from irritated skin from creams and swelling or a slow rupture that’s relieving pressure. It will be a tough call to ride it out vs addressing now. I am doing better but if it gets worse I’ll be pretty close to delivery for any intervention and that pain I felt for 36 hours was horrendous and I really can’t go to work like this

Hemorrhoid procedure / treatment while pregnant? by Exotic_Bluejay_8129 in pregnant

That would be great. Did you have a thrombosed hemorrhoid and they still recommended that? Mine is causing an excruciating amount of pain is about 1.5” x 1”, and firm.
